A DREAM is a wish your HEART makes Alexandra and Oliver’s big-day styling was inspired by the magic of Disney as a nod to their proposal story Images courtesy of Defining Moments Photography Alexandra and Oliver both swiped right! “Oliver’s first words to me were a joke about Gummy Bears, which made me giggle,” Alexandra remembers. The two met for dinner at a local country pub for their first date and felt completely at ease with each other right away. They'd been dating for a year when they went on their first Disney World trip together. By the time they got back, they’d decided to start saving for their first house. During their third trip to Disney World as a couple, Oliver got down on one knee in front of Cinderella’s castle, presenting Alexandra with a ring featuring Cinderella’s carriage in the crown holding diamonds. So, of course she said “yes,” and off they went to Disney’s Polynesian resort to celebrate over cocktails in Trader Sam’s Tiki Bar, watched fireworks on the beach and enjoyed dinner in Ohana. Alexandra knew she wanted to get married in their local church from the moment she stepped through the doors back in 2019. For the reception though, she was convinced they should book a castle! They set out to view four and while the couple found them to be stunning on the outside, they felt cold on the inside and were unable to offer overnight accommodation for guests. Having moved on to barn venues and ruled them out also, Buxted Park was the fourth country house they visited and knew instantly it was the one. “The beautiful white building, stunning grounds and spectacular views were equally matched by the elegant interiors with Orangery, Coat of Arms Lounge and, of course, the Ballroom,” Alexandra explains. Exclusive use was also a huge selling point for the couple as they loved the idea of being able to use the whole venue with all of their guests being able to stay and have breakfast with them the next day.
