Your Sussex Wedding - October/November 2023 (Issue 105)

HOT TOPIC THIS TIME IT’S PERSONAL! The county’s experts offer stellar advice on personalising your nuptials WITH THIS RING Andrew Leggett from Aurum Designer Jewellers (www.aurumjewellers.com) says: Whereas most aspects of your wedding are just for the big day, your wedding ring is something you’ll be wearing every day for the rest of your life. It’s important to go for a ring that’s perfect for you. Consider going for a bespoke, handmade design, rather than an offthe-shelf, factory-made product. Being involved in the design process opens up a world of possibilities. You’ll have control over every aspect and when everything comes together the result is a ring that’s perfect for you. If you have an engagement ring, your wedding band should be designed so that the two complement one another. You might find that your engagement ring needs a fitted band to sit comfortably alongside it. Many couples like the idea of having matching rings, but individual tastes vary and it usually ends up that each partner prefers a ring that suits them. So, while they won’t be identical, it is nice if they can have something in common. That could be as simple as the material or perhaps something more complex like a design feature. If you have a design-consultation with a goldsmith, you’ll be able to bear this in mind as you discuss the specifications of your ideal rings. THE STORY OF US Vicky Edwards from Spot On Ceremonies (https://spotonceremonies.co.uk) says: Given that a wedding day pivots on ‘the story of us’, not telling it would be a crying shame. And while your guests will each know snippets, most won’t know the complete story, so this is a really lovely opportunity to share it. The love story is usually the centrepiece of a celebrant-led wedding, so the first thing to do is find the celebrant that you feel a connection with. Then, in as much detail as you can (and that you’re prepared to share with everyone), tell them your story. Tell it in all its romantic, funny, silly and heart-warming glory, including how, where and when the proposal happened. Equipped with all the ingredients, your celebrant will then weave together something beautiful, meaningful and memorable; something that’s bespoke, super-personal and absolutely you as a couple. Because a good celebrant is a great storyteller, on the big day you can be sure they’ll tell your tale in a way that inspires laughter, fuzzy feelings and happy tears. Or in other words: how you started at once upon a time and arrived at happily ever after. https://nickifelthamphotography.com ASK THE EXPERTS 57
