Your Sussex Wedding - October/November 2023 (Issue 105)

The bridal car was a Rolls Royce Cloud, which was utterly beautiful. The bridesmaids travelled in a seven-seater Daimler. I walked myself down the aisle. My parents walked down ahead of me with our two girls, but it felt important to me that no one was ‘giving’ me away. This was a decision made by me and for me. Walking in after all my loved ones to Dan at the end of the aisle was incredibly special. We didn’t realise that one of the hymns we picked was a different version to the one we had printed in the order of service. There was an awkward but hilarious moment where the music kept going but our guests didn’t have the words to sing along. We didn’t think to check that out! My bouquet featured blue hydrangeas and white roses, which was mirrored for the bridesmaids who had white hydrangeas. Dan’s buttonhole also included a blue hydrangea, while the groomsmen wore white roses. Our youngest wore a beautiful flower crown of white roses, and both mums had stunning wrist corsages with pearl straps. My mother-in-law and sister-in-law are big Say Yes To The Dress fans, so we went to Confetti and Lace in Lakeside a year before the wedding, and I found my dress there: Sadie by Sophia Tolli. As soon as I put it on, I knew it was the one. Although I did go back three times to check, as I kept having doubts! The shoes were an easy decision. I love Sex In The City and have always wanted Carrie shoes; you know, the ones Mr Big proposes to her with. So, I had the Manolo Blahnik Hagisi in blue as my wedding shoe. 40
