Your South Wales Wedding - September/October 2024 (Issue 99)

friend both got really quiet. I think we all knew at the same time that it was the one. It was different from the other dresses as it had a very intricate, detailed design, and it wasn’t the classic white. To be honest, it wasn’t something I ever would have pictured myself in, but when I put it on, there was no question. As the dress was so detailed, I went with very simple jewellery to accessorise. I chose both a necklace and earrings that featured three hanging pearls in ascending sizes, a simple, slightly glittery veil, clipped into my hair and a pearl-studded hair clip.” Simon wore a dark blue tweed-style suit with a champagne-coloured tie and tan brogues from Dyfed Menswear. “My bridesmaids had different dresses,” recalls Megan. “I wanted them to wear something that they felt comfortable in and suited them individually, so I tried to give as little direction as possible with the biggest stipulation that each person wear a specific colour. It was a huge gamble, as we only saw all the dresses together on the wedding day and the colours could have clashed horribly, but thankfully they ended up being perfect together!” TIME TO CELEBRATE “To keep our guests entertained, we kept things simple and had a photo booth and resident DJ,” says the bride. “The photo booth was a big hit with everyone and had a queue the entire night. We gave the DJ some of our must-have songs, and the dancefloor was busy until it was time for everyone to go home.” MEMORABLE MOMENTS “We were both extremely nervous up until we saw each other at the altar, then it turned into excitement, followed by elation that we were finally married,” shares Megan. “After the wedding breakfast, but before the evening reception started, our photographer asked if we wanted to drive down the hill a bit to get some photos with the stunning landscape. We crammed both Simon and I, the videographer, and both photographers into the small car and drove a few minutes down the road to a dirt road by a large field, and we laughed the entire time. We then got to walk around just the two of us while the photographers did their thing in the background, and it was one of the best moments of the day because Simon and I finally got to have a moment alone. “The team at Llechwen Hall Hotel & Restaurant told me the night before that it was meant to rain, so we couldn’t have our ceremony outside,” continues the bride. “On the day, it wasn’t raining and when our florist Anne-Marie came to deliver the flowers, I told her I was quite upset about the idea of not having the ceremony outside, and within 10 minutes, one of the staff members came up to tell me we could have the ceremony outside after all!” As Megan is from the USA, she was surprised at how many of her friends and family travelled to be with them. “I couldn’t believe how many people actually travelled all the way to Wales to be a part of our big day,” adds Megan. “All of our suppliers were just phenomenal; they worked so seamlessly together on the day to truly make our dream wedding come to life. Specifically, Claire from Oh So Curious who did our venue styling, Anne-Marie from Petal Power who designed and arranged our florals, and our photographer, Timea Danci, who felt more like a friend by the time our wedding came around.” FLY AWAY WITH ME “For our honeymoon, we went away for 11 nights, starting in Bali and ending in Singapore,” recalls Megan. “Despite me falling ill on the second night there, it was still the trip of a lifetime.” 35 REAL WEDDINGS
