Q&A Fashion & Beauty Local experts offer advice on how to look your big-day best DRESSED TO PERFECTION I’m nervous about my first dress appointment. What can I expect and what should I take with me? First of all, don’t be nervous; it’s not as daunting as you might think. Finding the right boutique can really help with any nerves you may have. Consider heading to a wedding fair to meet the boutique’s owners in person before booking an appointment. That way, you can get to know the team before you visit. Each boutique may run their appointments slightly differently, but here at Brecon Bridal Boutique, you are welcomed into the boutique with a pot of tea waiting for you and your guests. We’ll tell you a little bit about the dresses and ask you a few questions about anything you might like or dislike in a wedding dress. We’ll also ask if you’ve been anywhere else before and if there is a dress to beat. We’ll also ask you about your wedding; all this is so we can get a feel for what it is you’d like in a wedding dress. After this, we let you go through the dresses and pick out five to six dresses to get your appointment started. You’re not limited to just trying on these gowns; it’s just to get you started. If we can see you favouring a certain style, we’ll pull more similar dresses for you to try throughout the appointment. We will be on hand in the changing room to help you get in and out of the dresses, as it’s not easy to do on your own. If you don’t feel comfortable having someone in the changing room with you, then let us know, and we’ll guide you through it from the other side of the curtain. Once you are in the dresses, you will step out into the boutique to show your chosen guests. Once the appointment comes to an end, hopefully you will have found your dream dress. If you’d rather have some sleep before making a big decision, then that’s fine too. The best thing that you could bring with you are friends and family who understand you, your style and your vision for your big day. The people that you bring with you to your appointment really do make it or break it. If you can’t decide who to bring with you and want to come on your own, that’s completely fine. We are there to help you, no matter what. Rachel Parry www.breconbridal.com SUMMER LOVING I need some ideas for a bridal hairstyle that can be worn up for my summer wedding. What can you suggest? Ideas for your wedding hair style are so easy to come by now with the likes of Pinterest and social media. I’d suggest looking for styles that suit your wedding and overall look. If you’re going for a more relaxed feel, opt for a loose braided up do with tendrils to create a boho, romantic feel. Braids are very popular now, with brides expanding on the usual plait to include Dutch and fishtail versions. You could go for something sleeker and more classic, like a chic chignon or a simple low bun. A pleat is also a popular choice for a more elegant look. The choice is completely yours, but essentially, it’s what you’re happy with and comfortable wearing. Elegant up dos can be personalised to suit all individuals, whether you have short, long, thick, or fine hair. If needed, we can add hair wefts for additional length and thickness. This style is perfect for adding accessories such as bands, clips or veils. There are different types of up dos to choose from, including textured, sleek, volume, additional braiding and twists, or even a half-up and half-down style to give you the best of both options. It’s essential to have a thorough consultation with your hair stylist and trial different looks to ensure you and your bridal party feel super confident that your hair is going to be perfect for the special day.
