Alex chose a cream suit and waistcoat from Slater Menswear. “He also had a burgundy pocket swatch,” remembers the bride. “Our boys, Silviu, Grayson and Finley, wore chinos with white shirts paired with burgundy braces.” TIME TO CELEBRATE “We had a disco in the evening and a sweet cart and popcorn maker for the children,” says Beth. “We also had giant Jenga, a ring toss game and Connect 4, and we used sparklers and flares to add a bit of fun to the day.” MEMORABLE MOMENTS “There were so many lovely moments throughout the day that it’s hard to pick just one,” shares Beth. “I think the biggest part was being with all of our family and friends and finally making our little family of five official. Alex’s family and friends had travelled from Romania to be at our special day and it meant the world to us. It was also my dad’s 70th birthday the day before the wedding, so we were able to have a large meal with all our friends and family to celebrate, which was just wonderful. “For me, the best part of our day was walking down the aisle to meet my best friend, whom I knew I was meant to spend the rest of my life with,” explains Beth. “I knew without question that I had finally arrived at the point in my life that I was destined to be at and that I could trust him with every part of my being.” Beth surprised Alex by writing him a poem. “My niece Esme read the poem beautifully and I had it translated into Romanian for Alex’s parents and sister,” recalls the bride. “Nearly everyone cried and his family said that it was the most personal, intimate and beautiful wedding that they had attended. His mother speaks little English, but we are still close, as she is so lovely. In the few words she could say that day, she said it was such a warm and loving wedding, just like me. How I didn’t cry, I don’t know.” The couple’s photographer, Jordan Collins, helped make their day perfect. “She was incredible on the day,” recalls Beth. “She was so much fun and entertained all of the funny ideas we had. One included walking across some rather risky stepping stones on a river, only to find out after that my poor dress had been dragged in the river and then in the mud. I stayed rather calm, telling Jordan, don’t worry, I’ll clean it up when we get back; just don’t tell my mum. I’ll never forget Jordan’s face when she turned to me and responded with: ‘Oh no, will your mum blame me?’ to which I laughed and said: ‘Don’t be daft, not at all!’ It was a funny moment and when we got back, it was Alex who helped me clean my dress in the toilets and we got all the mud out, so it was a happy ending. We also had no end of fun with Jordan, with Alex consistently asking for photos of us jumping in the air or doing something insane. It was a lot of fun!” 37 REAL WEDDINGS
