49 OUTDOOR WEDDINGS How to plan an outdoor wedding Love for the great outdoors is blooming. After being shut up indoors during the pandemic, there’s a growing appreciation for open spaces, fresh air and all that nature has to offer. Demand for chilled al fresco weddings continues to rise and shows no sign of stopping any time soon. Luckily, we’re blessed in South Wales with everything from beautiful beaches and countryside to magical woods, forests and more, so the world’s your oyster. Read on for top tips on how to pull off an outdoor wedding in style… DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY Having a band play at your outdoor wedding can provide unforgettable festival vibes. The perfect band with the right conditions will keep your guests singing and dancing long into the starry night. However, a few issues need to be considered when planning your outdoor entertainment. Power – Unless you are able to run an extension from a nearby building, you will have to supply a generator. It is best to speak to a professional leasing company about your generator requirements. Neighbours – Sound travels. With no walls to block that sound, it will travel further and louder. Advise your neighbours of your plans beforehand, or better yet, invite them to the evening celebration! Shelter – Welsh weather is notoriously unpredictable, even in the summer. Your band will require a gazebo big enough to shelter every band member and all of their equipment in case it rains. It’s worth noting that strong sunlight can also damage the musical instruments, but it will give the lead singer an opportunity to don his or her rock-star shades! Temperature – Even on warm, sunny days, temperatures can drop drastically when the sun sets. Have plenty of blankets on hand for your guests and maybe a seated area with a firepit. Have a backup plan – If there is torrential rain forecast, you may have to face the music and take the party indoors. Make that decision early to avoid extra stress on the day.
