A team of local suppliers worked together to create this pastel-themed shoot at St Mellons Country Club Images courtesy of Dan Houghton Photography Photographer Dan Houghton and florist Faith Ward from Lux Blossom & Co worked together to create this modern styled shoot. “We kept seeing so many wild and outlandish ideas, which we thought couples wouldn’t connect with,” explains Dan. “We wanted to create a shoot that brought together a simple palette of pastels and summer vibes. We reached out to St Mellons Country Club, as their aesthetic matched the mood we wanted to create. We wanted couples to feel like they don’t need to break the bank to get a stylish look for their day.” Vicky from Hwyl Ceremonies created a ceremony for Hannah and James to celebrate their love and to affirm the promises they made on their wedding day. “We included a Celtic Hand Blessing; the ancient Celtic ritual symbolises the binding of two lives by placing ribbons or materials over the couple’s hands,” adds Dan. “Traditionally, cords or ribbons are used and are weaved around the couple’s hands. Leading the hand blessing, Vicky explained the sentiments and why the materials of gold, white, and teal were chosen for their symbolic and sentimental meaning to the couple. After we tied the ribbons, the couple held the materials high above their heads and tied them as tight as they could, literally tying the knot. “Faith created huge statement floral pieces to really make the day stand out,” continues Dan. “She hand-picked peonies, delphiniums to give the arrangements height, fabulous garden roses, and Nigella to match the theme of the shoot.” 63 STYLED SHOOT
