It was amazing and just what we needed. It was out of season, so it was nice and quiet, but the weather was fine and dry, perfect for sightseeing. We chilled out and ate lovely food. My friend’s son had just passed his driving test and offered to pick up our dog after the ceremony and look after him for the night. This was so helpful, as I wanted our dog there, but he wasn’t allowed in the marquee. My sister-in-law, Sarah, ended up in A&E after hurting her foot dancing! She was in a cast for eight weeks after breaking her achilles. My cousin, Clare, read a lovely poem during the service, which was kind of her, as I know she was very nervous. My dad’s speech and him walking me down the aisle were also special moments, as he hasn’t been very well of late. When I saw the decorated room for the first time, it made me cry; it looked so beautiful. I also loved the morning at my parents’ house getting ready with my daughter and bridesmaids. I was so nervous that I couldn’t eat a thing for about two days. When I got to the alter, I was trembling uncontrollably, but I calmed down after that and started to relax. I felt very happy and couldn’t stop smiling all day. 44
