Welcome to our March/April issue! Time is flying by, and if you’re counting down the days until your wedding, don’t worry, it will be here before you know it. I love writing this issue partly because I adore spring weddings but also due to our bridal boutiques feature. It’s one of my favourites to write, and I always get excited seeing the stunning dresses that are available in our lovely region. I got married last year, so I know how stressful finding the perfect dress can be. I had no idea of what style I wanted, a fishtail made me feel like I couldn’t sit down without bursting out of it and a ballgown swamped me, but luckily my bridal consultant suggested an A-line silhouette, which turned out to be perfect. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the amount of choice available, make sure you listen to your consultant. They have years of experience and have helped brides of every shape and size find their dream gown, so they will know what looks good on you even if you don’t yourself. Go to your appointment with a rough idea of what you like. If you haven’t decided on a silhouette, then focus on smaller elements, such as lace, tulle or sleeves, as this will help your consultant find the right dress. Try to keep an open mind; my dress had three-quarterlength sleeves, a detailed bodice, a plunging neckline and lots of lace, which on paper was everything I didn’t want, but it turned out to be perfect. Lastly, don’t panic if you don’t have that overwhelming this is the one feeling, as I didn’t myself, just trust your gut and go for something that makes you feel beautiful, comfortable and confident – good luck!
