HOT TOPIC: Wedding worries Our experts solve your problems DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY My hubby-to-be and I are looking to book a band for our big day. We’ve created a playlist of our favourite songs. Would you be able to learn them for our upcoming nuptials? We love learning new songs, and we are always looking to update our set list. However, learning a full playlist of new songs for one wedding would not be something we would consider. Through years of experience playing weddings, we have constructed a proven set list that entertains guests of all ages. Your personal song choices might not be to every guest’s taste, and you will want a full dancefloor at your wedding. As you haven’t yet booked a band, your best bet is to look for one that already plays lots of your favourite songs. Bands should provide a sample set list on request, and we would recommend watching them perform live beforehand if possible. Most bands will offer to learn one or two specific song requests for a wedding (often a first dance song). We will do this at no additional cost, but keep in mind that some bands do charge an extra fee for this service. Make sure you give your band plenty of notice to learn song requests. It takes, on average, two rehearsal sessions to learn and perfect a new song. This means that bands will be extremely busy learning new material in the summer wedding season. Finally, if your band does learn a song or two for you, please show your appreciation by getting on the dancefloor when they play them. You might even want to join the band onstage to sing along! This provides a great photo opportunity for your guests. Los Devitos www.losdevitos.com A PERSONAL TOUCH We’re having a Christmas extravaganza wedding and want favours that will wow our guests. Do you have any ideas of how we can achieve this? Personalised favours are always a great way to wow your guests and give them something meaningful. Why not consider Christmas ornaments, stockings, or festive-themed sweets? What about a stocking with your guest’s name on instead of a place card? You could even make simple swaps, like trading your more traditional sweet favours for Christmas-themed ones such as fizzy reindeers, gummy penguins or chocolate Brussels sprouts. Go one step further and have Christmas-themed packaging like mini Christmas tree boxes or snow globe-style jars. Why not go all out and have personalised Christmas crackers for each of your guests? Fill your own crackers with small gifts like sweet treats, UV stickers, keyrings, party hats and jokes. Consider what you love about the festive season. Many businesses, like ours, love to work with you to create something unique and tailored to your personality, bringing your vision to life.
