Your Bristol & Somerset Wedding - February/March 2024 (Issue 99)

Food, glorious food Meet the region’s wedding caterers Admit it, whose mind hasn’t immediately leapt to food whenever a wedding invitation arrives in the post. Or is that just us? For many of us, when we’re not eating, we’re thinking about it! So, it’s reasonable to assume that your wedding breakfast will be one of the most highly anticipated elements of your day – no pressure. What you might not have considered though is that it’s another medium through which you can express your personalities, thus making your big day uniquely you. The food should match your vibe, from formal, seated, three-course affairs, to chilled grazing spreads. And It’s not only the way you eat that can speak volumes but also what you eat. Perhaps you met at a pub for your first date: opt for a menu of pub grub classics. Maybe you got engaged in a far-flung exotic location: give your menu an international twist. The options are endless and if you pick the correct caterer, they’ll creatively work with you to come up with your dream menu, sure to keep guests satisfied and remembering your day for all the right reasons. Read on as we introduce you to some local folk who can help... DORSET FINE DINING www.dorsetfinedining.co.uk | @dorsetfinedining Dorset Fine Dining, based in Wincanton, is owned and operated by professional chef Nick Holt. He says, “My passion and experience in cooking has developed over the last 20 years and I feel privileged to work in Somerset with its abundance of high-quality produce.” Nick’s career began when he trained in classical French cuisine under the first British chef to gain a Michelin Star with the Roux brothers at Le Poulbot in London. Using these methods, he’s been successful in carving out his own niche, which he’s now able to express in his work at Dorset Fine Dining. “I firmly believe that food should always speak for itself, so I never try to overcomplicate my dishes with too many flavours and elements,” he tells us. Nick and his team will use their expertise and passion for producing great food as they work with you to create a wedding-day menu to suit your exacting requirements. “We’re fortunate enough to have worked in partnership with a number of great wedding venues across the region, allowing us to know what does and doesn’t work well when catering for your guests,” Nick says. FENNEL AND TWINE www.fennelandtwine.co.uk | @fennelandtwine Fennel and Twine was founded by Ben and Sarah in 2020, in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic. Keen to provide Bristolians with a restaurant experience in lockdown, they started by delivering chef-prepared meal kits and homemade goods. Today, the local caterer works on events ranging from intimate dinner parties to large scale weddings. Sarah says, “Fennel and Twine reflects our passion for creating innovative menus and preparing delicious food for the enjoyment of others, and we look forward to sharing our love of food with you. We also believe in creating seasonal menus that reflect the high quality of fresh, locally-grown ingredients and reducing our carbon footprint.” “Remember, it’s your special day so do what makes you happy rather than worrying about everyone else. They’ll enjoy your wedding regardless.” – Sarah and Ben, Fennel and Twine CATERING 47
