LOOKING YOUR BEST 63 NATURAL BEAUTY Felicity from Ashby Artistry (www.ashbyartistry.co.uk), a makeup artist in the Lake District, shares her wedding trend predictions. Radiance and glowing skin are taking centre stage right now, and I can tell you confidently that this won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. It’s become a huge trend because it’s achieving the feeling that nearly every single one of us dreams of having on our wedding day. That sense of pure contentment, glee and that ethereal sparkle. The beginning of this trend was born with the glass skin created by make-up artist Pat McGrath for the Maison Margiela Paris Fashion Week. But it has snowballed into so much more. It is now so relatable and easy for all of us to play and experiment with. It opened the conversation that it’s good to have fun with your appearance! Trends are, by nature, fleeting; what’s celebrated today could feel overdone tomorrow. Radiant skin and glowing shoulders currently add a dreamy touch to your wedding look, but there’s something even more powerful: a look that highlights you in all your individuality, quirks and unique beauty. So, instead of building your wedding look around the trend of the year, why not create a look that feels quintessentially you? Think about the little details that make you and your partner unique. Maybe there’s a particular colour you both love – a soft shade that reflects your favourite flower perhaps? Or a feature you both adore, such as your natural freckles. These are the touches that will truly shine through in photos and memories because they aren’t tied to what’s trending – they’re tied to who you are. Your story as a couple is unique and that should be celebrated! If the glowing, radiant skin trend speaks to you, then go for it! However, have fun and explore other options too, because no one needs to be dictated by the latest beauty influencers. BEAUTIFUL LOCKS Hair stylist Evka (www.evka-allen.com) discusses the latest trends in wedding hair. Trends in wedding hairstyles vary all the time. Some styles are timeless and others stay for the season. Looking at the last few years of fluffy boho chic styles, braids and sleek Hollywood waves, I think there will be a big shift going into the 2025 wedding season, both for brides and bridesmaids. The styles are starting to go towards soft, understated glam rather than big, fancy and loud styles. But that does not mean they will be less fun or gorgeous. Brides seem to be liking more modern versions of Hollywood waves. As timeless as waves are, they are having a little makeover from fixed in place to softer and airier, yet still super sleek and glam. Also, a parting in the middle gives them a fresher and more modern feel. A soft, low bun with a tiny bit of texture, a gentle front, and some loose strands framing the face (but not too many) is a big trend going into 2025. It’s simple yet elegant and always suitable for any occasion. Parting in the middle or on the side, your choice. The 90s-inspired French twist has been with us for most of 2024 and is going even stronger for 2025. Its texture, volume, elegance and comfort are perfect for everyone. The bridal ponytail is sleek all around the roots, maybe even with a middle parting for a modern feel, but the pony itself is what is making it the perfect wedding style. It can be a soft glam, sleek or it can be gently textured with waves or curls. I also see two quite opposite solutions when it comes to the veil. A lot of brides are swapping their veils for subtle tiaras or small and elegant clips. Just to add a tiny touch of glamour, but on the other side is quite the opposite – it’s the longest veil you’ve ever seen. Both brides and bridesmaids are looking for a smooth and sleek finish to their styles, but with a very natural feel to them. It’s to stay in place but look light. We are definitely heading for a very glam and soft wedding season in 2025. www.freerimages.co.uk www.freerimages.co.uk www.freerimages.co.uk
