If you’re anything like me, then you’ve probably been dreaming of how you’ll look on your wedding day since you were a child. Now that you’re engaged and are having to decide on a dress, hairstyle and make-up, it can feel overwhelming. My biggest piece of advice is to choose a look that feels right for you. If you don’t usually wear make-up, then going into your big day with a full face of glamorous products can make you feel uncomfortable and likewise, if you wear make-up on a daily basis, then going without it might make you feel naked. It’s all about finding a style that takes your normal look and elevates it to a new level – one that makes you look and feel like the best version of yourself. Talk to your hair and make-up artists; they’re the experts and have helped hundreds of brides get ready for their wedding, so they’ll have suggestions that can make your normal look bridal-ready. Make sure you book a hair and make-up trial; it’s the perfect time to sit with your supplier, talk through your look and ask any questions that you may have. It also means that you can try several styles, so if the idea you have in your head doesn’t look quite like you imagined, then it doesn’t matter; you can keep trying styles until you find the perfect look for you. To help give you some inspiration, we’ve rounded up some of the region’s top suppliers and asked for their beauty tips and trend predictions for 2025. Happy planning! DREAMY FLORALS Kelly is the lead florist at Dahlia and Dot Florals. “My background and previous profession was in teaching; I was a primary school teacher for 13 years. But after falling pregnant with my daughter, I knew I wanted to do something that always interested me, something where I knew I could create beauty and enjoy what I did every day. So I took the leap, and here I am, working with fabulous couples to make their dream flowers a reality. Throughout my floral journey, I have worked with other designers, wedding creatives and amazing couples and I can honestly say that I’ve never looked back. I adore what I do, and I’m happiest when surrounded by flowers in my studio, creating dream florals for my couples’ special days. We have had the pleasure of creating weddings across some fabulous venues across the UK. Some include Peckforton Castle, The Coach House at Soughton Hall, Capesthorne Hall, Dorfold Hall and The Holford Estate. “Establishing connections is an essential part of the process for Dahlia and Dot Florals when working with couples to create their dream arrangements. From the moment we have our initial consultation to the moment the flowers are received, I endeavour to play an integral part in your wedding journey. We offer bespoke designs for all aspects of wedding floristry, from bridal flowers to small and large venue arrangements. Together we will discuss your vision. I’ll then create a quote with suggested florals and we will arrange a site visit before you decide on the final design. I absolutely love having close communication with my brides and grooms and sharing their excitement throughout the planning and designing process. But my ultimate favourite moment has to be seeing the bride’s reaction when you enter the room with her flowers on the wedding morning. It’s a feeling like no other, a feeling that I’d struggle to top!” Exclusively for Your North West Wedding, Dahlia and Dot Florals are offering couples a 10 per cent discount on their bridal flowers. Dr Usman Riaz of Ribble Valley-based Renovo explains: “This is micro-invasive dentistry. We can preserve as much of the tooth structure as possible by using scientifically developed, bio-compatible metal-free materials that act, feel and look just like our natural teeth.” AVOIDING ROOT CANALS “Biomimetic dentistry can help reduce your need for root canal therapy by up to 90 per cent. With immediate dentin sealing and resin coating, biomimetic dentistry gives pulps a vital chance to heal, helping maintain their natural resilience and extend their life. This is at the forefront of our core values,” adds Dr Riaz. These latest advances in dental technology are set to change the way we view restorative dentistry. For teeth that have been damaged, porcelain crowns and veneers have, in the past, been the solution. However, more recent developments in bonding technology and the bio-materials used, have given dentists a new alternative, usually with no tooth removal. Always keeping ahead of the industry, leading private dental practice Renovo is one of the first practices in the UK that has fully adapted the very latest techniques that can successfully restore teeth by using materials that mimic nature and the natural tooth. Biomimetic dentistry is revolutionising the way dentists can restore and repair teeth as PREDICTABLE OUTCOMES AND PAIN-FREE LONGERLASTING TEETH Biomimetic restorations treat the causes of symptoms (cracks or caries near the pulp) so they do not result in sensitivity or pain after restoration: “Biomimetic techniques also restore the tooth in a way that mimics a tooth’s natural structure, preventing cracks around the restoration. Finally, the advanced adhesive techniques used in a biomimetic restoration have been shown to keep a restoration bonded for over 20 years, and counting, so the days of crowns or fillings falling out can be a thing of the past!” These restorative materials that mimic nature, are not only perfect for aesthetically restoring teeth but they also help preserve and strengthen the natural tooth structure. SCIENCE-BACKED DENTAL TREATMENT Biomimetic dentistry is more technique sensitive and requires more detailed steps than traditional restorative practices. With Renovo’s approach, the dentists and the whole clinical team understand the science, or what we call the ‘why’ behind each step in their biomimetic restoration. The systematic steps CLOSER TO NATURE Biomimetic materials that literally mimic nature, are revolutionising dentistry and here in the Ribble Valley, one forward-thinking practice is one of the leading pioneers of this technique
take the guesswork out of treatment planning, leaving clinicians and patients feeling confident in every restoration. IMPROVED AESTHETICS “Biomimetic dentistry is general dentistry and can be applied to every case we see at Renovo. The concepts of conserving tooth structure, saving pulps and superior adhesion will serve as a more predictable foundation of our work,” explains Dr Riaz. “We can change, reshape and enhance teeth with these new materials. The biomimetic materials are also reinforcing teeth – it is a totally different concept to what we have seen previously.” Adopting the latest biomimetic philosophies and having all the specialist techniques and materials available to them, the dentists at Renovo are pioneering in ZERO TOOTH LOSS MAXIMUM AESTHETICS For nervous patients the biomimetic approach revolutionises the way they view a dental appointment: “For those people, this is an amazing development as the approach is to conserve tooth tissue using minimally invasive techniques. No anaesthetic is needed as there is zero tooth removal.” While biomimetic dentistry can help to naturally strengthen and restore damaged teeth, it is also perfect for cosmetic procedures: “From a cosmetic point of view we can improve without having to compromise, which is a very powerful concept. “With the latest biomimetic materials, we get incredible results and in many cases, it is much quicker too, as it often involves just one visit to the dentist. “These treatment concepts and philosophy are popular in the US and Europe, but it has taken time to develop in the UK. We have had to understand the materials and perfect new techniques so we can carry out dentistry at a different level.” HEALTHIER TEETH HEALTHIER YOU By removing all toxicity and inflammation from the mouth, biological dentistry helps restore vitality, balance and systemic health. “What we put in our mouth and more importantly, the teeth themselves, has a crucial role to play in our overall health. Gut health begins in the mouth. It’s more than just a gateway – it’s a mirror reflecting our overall health.” n their unique approach. “Specialist techniques are used in biomimetic dentistry and the whole team have had advanced training,” says Dr Riaz. “For us, using non-invasive techniques and preserving teeth has always been something we routinely believe in and practice, so biomimetic dentistry sits really well with that belief. “It’s the way dentistry should be done – to save and conserve teeth has always been our gold standard.” Renovo Dental Pendle House Clitheroe Road Chatburn BB7 4JY 01200 441000 hello@renovodental.co.uk renovodental.co.uk @renovodental WE GET OPTIMAL RESULTS WITH ZERO TOOTH REMOVAL AND THAT’S WHY THE BIOMIMETIC APPROACH IS SO POPULAR health&beauty tbc ADVERTISING FEATURE

Lucy and Robin opted for a champagne and peach colour palette for their wedding at St Mary and All Saints Church and Browsholme Hall Images courtesy of David Scholes Photography LOVE at first SIGHT Lucy and Robin met in August 2020. “It sounds cheesy, but we both just knew,” says Lucy. “We were inseparable from the start.” Robin popped the question while the couple were exploring the island of La Digue in the Seychelles. “It was a dream destination and somewhere we had both been wanting to visit for a long time,” shares the bride. “We did some island hopping, and unbeknownst to me, Robin had a plan to propose at sunset on the beautiful Anse Source d’Argent Beach on the little island of La Digue. His plan was scuppered by a tropical storm that night, unfortunately, so we had an early sunrise trip back to the beach the next morning. We had the beach to ourselves and we were exploring the amazing scenery when he asked me to marry him on one knee in a little cove surrounded by boulders. I was taken by total surprise and we were both in tears.” Read on to see some of Lucy’s favourite moments from their big day... REAL WEDDINGS 25
Sarah at Olive Owl Flowers draped gorgeous fabric along the tables, which puddled at each end, and there were hundreds of candles of all different heights and sizes in the barn, creating a lovely glow. St Mary and All Saints Church is our local church and we walk past it each day on our daily dog walks. It felt special to us and we liked it was somewhere we could continue to visit. We’ve gotten to know Reverand Jonathon and the congregation well; everyone was lovely and friendly. Our centrepieces were a mixture of candles scattered around bud vases with blooms and tray displays that had been used in church. We had two long tables and a top table. We felt like this really fit with our laid-back vibe, as we didn’t want it to feel like a conference! We put on coach transportation for our guests using Red Rose Travel. For our car, we chose a 1947 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud from Broughton Wedding Cars and the bridesmaids travelled in a Range Rover Velar. Browsholme Hall was a joy from the moment we went to look around. We fell in love with the grounds and just how laid-back everything felt. Anything we wanted to do was no big deal; we could really put our stamp on our day and whatever we wanted they made happen. My brother’s partner, Sara, surprised us with a gorgeous homemade cake, complete with a wolf figure in ode to our Tamaskan Wolfdog, Laska. We had lots of our favourite cakes on a dessert table in the evening, some made by our friend Jules and others by the head pastry chef at Grantley Hall. We went for a lovely tasting meal at Twelve Restaurant & Event Management and from this we devised a tailored menu, including sharing platter starters, individual main courses, and an assiette of desserts. 26
I came across old-season Topshop bridesmaids’ dresses online. When they buttoned up, they had a cut-out heart shape at the back, which I loved, so I made it my mission to find them for my three bridesmaids. Seeing Robin on the day was one of my favourite moments. He looked so handsome, like I knew he would. We had a surprise set up in the adjoining room of the barn – a bucking bronco from Bounce A Lot Northwest. Everyone loved it, and it was nonstop laughter all around. I chose a dress by Milla Nova from Knutsford Wedding Gallery. It was encrusted with jewels, embellished flowers, and feathers. I had a real wow moment when I tried it on; I’d not seen anything like it before. Robin wore a bespoke morning suit from Favourbrook. It had an ivory waistcoat, grey pinstripe trousers and a charcoal morning suit jacket. We had a contemporary brass band called Back Chat Brass perform modern and classic hits. They were hiding at Browsholme Hall waiting for our wedding car to come down the drive. They made a surprise appearance by bursting out of the front door playing their instruments just as we got out. In the evening, we hired the wonderful Vice Radio who we booked through Merchant Music Limited to keep our guests entertained. We surprised our guests with our first dance, showcasing a routine we had learnt with Yasmin from Sanderson Dance. Sarah from Olive Owl Flowers, in particular, delivered the dream. She listened to what we wanted and was so enthusiastic about how she could make it possible. I cried in the morning when I saw the flowers and just could not believe how she had brought our dream to life! REAL WEDDINGS 27
