Their wedding cake was made by Heather’s godparents. “It was three tiers,” says Heather. “We wanted to incorporate two of our favourite flavours, lemon drizzle and chocolate, so we had a mix of both. It was decorated with edible white lace and topped with edible roses.” DRESSED TO IMPRESS “I wore a ballgown with a cathedral-length train,” shares the bride. “I chose this design because I wanted something that was classic and would never go out of style. It was simple, but also very elegant. I accessorised with a tiara and my mum’s veil from when she got married 37 years ago. Luckily, she had taken good care of it, and it was in perfect condition! I wore low-heeled open-toe shoes from Charlotte Mills made from pearlescent leather with a hint of glitter.” Joe opted for a three-piece suit from Cheshire Menswear. “It was navy and made from lightweight wool, which was perfect for our summer wedding,” explains Heather. “My bridesmaids chose Morilee dresses by Madeline Gardner. They were made in the same floor-length lilac chiffon but had different necklines.” TIME TO CELEBRATE “We had a caricaturist that we hired via Warble Entertainment,” reveals Heather. “He was a huge hit with the guests, keeping them entertained between the ceremony and wedding breakfast. People really enjoyed posing with their partners and were able to keep the drawings as a keepsake, which everyone said was a great idea. In the evening, we had a DJ provided by Dancefloor Couture LTD. We were able to add all the songs we wanted to a portal beforehand, and we even had the option for guest requests. A few days before the wedding, we talked through exactly what we wanted with the DJ and gave a bit of context as to what our guests would enjoy and what sort of songs would get everyone on the dancefloor. This meant that when the day came around, we could just relax and have fun. “We also had a magic mirror photo booth provided by Make It Stand Out,” continues Heather. “This was a great addition that came with a range of props that our guests loved taking silly photos with. Not only did the photos print out straight away for guests to keep, but copies of every image were also collated in a small scrapbook by the company for Joe and I to keep. This was really fun to look through the following morning!” MEMORABLE MOMENTS “The day went so fast, but we were both on cloud nine,” remembers the bride. “The entire day was filled with love and laughter, and we had the most amazing time celebrating with our family and friends. Once we had exchanged vows and were about to sit down to sign the wedding register, I noticed a spider on the wall, so I had to ask Joe to move it before I sat down. It definitely broke the ice from the formalities of the ceremony and had all the guests laughing! “My mum had arranged for my horse to be brought to the venue for some wedding pictures,” adds Heather. “Ever since I was a little girl, I always said that when I got married, I wanted to have my horse Pepper there on the day. Once we came out of the ceremony, Joe and I headed out to the front of the house to have a quick break before joining the rest of the guests on the lawn, and that was when Pepper came walking down the driveway. It was an amazing surprise, and we were able to have some beautiful photos that I can cherish forever!” REAL WEDDINGS 37
