53 FEED ME What could be better than gourmet fish and chips for your guests? 49 BED OF ROSES I’m loving this bouquet from Newcastle’s Bels Flowers! I love how my job means I get to spend my days writing about all things wedding… but nothing actually beats being invited to one, to remind yourself of all the raw emotion that comes with two people committing their lives to one another. I was lucky enough to attend my cousin Jade’s nuptials in the Tees Valley back in July – and am not afraid to admit I shed a few tears on more than one occasion. There was the look of love in Jade’s eyes seeing his wife Simone walk up the aisle. There was the look of pride in Simone’s dad’s eyes as he walked her up the aisle. Then there was that fleeting look of sadness I spied in Jade’s mam’s eyes, at not having her husband by her side. We lost my Uncle Peter nearly eight years ago, and I know how much he would have boasted to anyone and everyone that would listen at what a wonderful daughter-in-law he’d been blessed with. It just goes to show that tears are to be expected from many a guest at your wedding – so be prepared and have plenty of tissues for friends and family at the ready! Emotions to one side, there are plenty of other aspects you’ll need to consider when it comes to planning the best day of your lives. Looking for a wedding outfit that’s different from the norm? Turn to our Q&A on page 59, for essential advice on choosing an alternative gown for your own celebration. Also this issue, I’ve been busy searching for the best fashion and grooming experts in your area to get you ready for the most photographed day of your lives (p45), while over on page 49 you’ve the best blooms to choose from for spring, summer, autumn and winter. It might sound obvious, but by picking homegrown flowers in season you’ll save money and reduce your carbon footprint in the process! That’s more money to pop behind the bar, which I’m sure all your guests will appreciate… Happy wedding planning – see you in November!
