Your North East Wedding - July/August 2022 (Issue 51)

My mam showed me The Secret Tower a few years ago, saying she knew I’d love it. I’d wanted to get married there ever since, but was nervous viewing the venue again in case Brandon didn’t like it. I cried when he said he loved it as much as me. I told my florist, Becca, my visions for the flowers and the results were incredible! She exceeded my expectations, with my bouquet and arch filled with amazing toffee roses. I loved getting ready on the morning of the wedding. Stevie just sat there, happily playing with the make-up artist’s brushes, and it was lovely having her there. We chose pin badges from the Alzheimer’s Society for our wedding favours. I lost both my grandparents to the disease and wanted to honour them in some way, especially as we only lost my gorgeous grandad last year. We opted for a three-tier buttercream cake with spiced orange and cranberry, Bellini and Victoria sponge flavours. Terracotta and white in colour, it was decorated with flowers to complement my bouquet. I wore the Zola dress by Evie Young, which I bought from Sisters of Grace in Newcastle. The moment I put it on I fell head over heels! My mam was crying, I was speechless – and there was Stevie, crawling over the floor of the studio. It was a moment to remember! My sister Rosie was my maid of honour, and looked gorgeous in her sage green suit with ivory boots. She carried our daughter down the aisle, who held a sign that said ‘Daddy, here comes Mammy’. 40
