HOT TOPIC Local experts offer stellar advice on spring wedding IT’S ALL IN THE DETAIL For a spring wedding, embrace the beauty of the outdoors by bringing in natural elements. Whether it’s soft pastel colours, textured linens or floral arrangements that feel organic and unstructured, incorporating nature into your décor will help create a seamless flow between the ceremony and the surrounding environment. Consider soft, romantic lighting in the form of candles to add warmth as the evening sets in. Spring is a time of renewal, so opting for a wedding design that feels fresh, light and joyful is a perfect way to complement the season’s charm. Here are a few tips that make a spring wedding go from great to perfect. We stand a good chance of getting great weather but there’s always risk of showers, so it’s essential to have an indoor plan. Talk to your venue about the indoor areas you can use and consider somewhere separate but close by that would work for family photos too. Embrace the colours of the season! Spring is beautiful, so use soft pastel hues for florals and tie-in dresses, décor and confetti to match that theme. On the subject of confetti, for maximum photo impact choose the largest size you can find, keep it colourful and in my opinion, there’s no such thing as too much! Think about where you’d like to use for photography. Are there any special areas of the venue you love? Is there somewhere special that we could stop at on the way from the church to the reception? Planning means we can work quickly and efficiently, which is important if the weather is showery or there’s a chill in the air. Early spring can still look like winter. When I’m at weddings in March and April, I notice that trees and woodland areas still look bare even though they have signs of new growth. Check out your venue at the time of year that you’re planning to get married – notice what flowers are out and how the surrounding areas look. Most importantly, talk to your photographer! We’ll probably already know lots of good spots at local venues and the more organised we can be, the better!
