Back to black This Gothic-themed shoot featured dramatic styling and alternative touches Images courtesy of Cherished Photography by Claudia Like many ideas for collaboration projects, it often starts with a coffee, a slice of cake and a chat in a lovely café. This talented team of passionate individuals wanted to provide couples with outstanding service and the inspiration to do things just a little differently. So, together, they created a Gothic and alternative shoot full of stunning touches. Kate Youdale at The Party Frock created two stunning gowns for the day! The first with heart-shaped buttons and a dark red underlay that shows a hint of colour through the tulle featuring flocked hearts. The second is an elegant Chantilly lace creation with buttons down the back of the gown, along with a black pearl-encrusted veil. Two pairs of boots from House of Elliot completed the look: a fulllength red lace boot and a shorter ankle-styled pair in black. This enhanced the handmade jewellery collection in black and red from the talented Jen Gilbert, who also created and provided a selection of handmade hair accessories. Regarding the hair, Jessica Reeves wanted to create something a little different for this alternative shoot: a little bit of rock ‘n’ roll. So, she created the most incredible faux hawk for the model, possibly her most dramatic hairstyle to date. Make-up by Faye created a darker, more sultry make-up for this project. A magnificent bouquet of locally sourced florals topped off this look. The team opted for dark venue décor, except for the neon light that illuminated the top table. Dark autumnal stationery, handmade favours, table decorations, and handmade pumpkins added to the overall effect. Heidi at The Embroidered Napkin Company had time in her busy schedule to create black napkins and dark red velvet bows to pull the look together. Dawn Kemp Celebrant brought a selection of her ceremony props that she can offer couples for symbolic rituals. Think of a sand ceremony, unity candle, broom jumping and more. Gen’s Cake Shed created a stunning display of edible coloured wafer flowers and leaves, along with a striking black wedding cake – this effect was quite something! The team wanted to make sure that the male model had a change of outfit as well, so the morning suit, white shirt and bow tie led to a more relaxed, slightly edgy outfit change to a black shirt and rosary beads. 51 STYLED SHOOT
