I had been so busy for the past few months that I craved time to unwind and detach from the outside world. That’s why I was thrilled when I got the chance to visit Kettering Park Hotel & Spa, which is part of the Daniel Thwaites spa group. Nestled in the heart of the East Midlands, this lovely four-star property provides a serene atmosphere, spa facilities, cosy rooms and delectable dining options at the award-winning restaurant. I was looking forward to a romantic getaway with my partner, filled with unforgettable moments. What better way to kick off our stay than by exploring the spa? READY TO RELAX Just a brief stroll from the reception, we found ourselves in the spotless changing rooms before entering the spa area to explore the amenities. Inside, we discovered a sauna, a steam room, numerous loungers and a spacious pool ideal for both relaxing and energetic swimming. Thanks to the calming atmosphere, we took our time here, unwinding and allowing our stress to fade away. The team provides a wide variety of services, catering to all needs with options ranging from facials to body treatments, as well as the perfect finishing touches, such as pedicures and manicures. I enjoyed experiencing a 50-minute Templespa My Kinda Massage, a truly blissful journey that emphasised luxury and indulgence. The deeply relaxing full-body massage began with choosing one of three delightful Mediterranean-inspired oils. I decided on the soothing scents of frankincense, lavender and patchouli. The skilled masseuse worked her magic, targeting my troublesome areas like the stubborn knots in my shoulder blades and stiff neck while applying the right amount of pressure. I stepped outside feeling like a million bucks! FOOD FOR THOUGHT Following our soothing spa experience, we realised we were feeling quite peckish and were excited to tuck into a three-course meal! The talented chefs at the AA Rosette restaurant are committed to creating dishes that not only taste amazing but also showcase the best of British cuisine. They focus on using high-quality ingredients and collaborating closely with local suppliers to achieve the perfect flavour pairings. We kicked off our meal with artisan bread and salted butter, followed by a smoked haddock and leek tartlet with lettuce and mustard dressing. For my main course, I chose the slow-cooked chicken breast with truffle mousse, potato terrine, spinach and oyster mushrooms in a white wine butter sauce – it was absolutely delightful! I ended the meal with a refreshing raspberry and mango sorbet, perfect for the hot weather. The team was attentive during our meal, ensuring we had everything needed for a fantastic experience. There’s nothing I love more than a hearty breakfast, and the team didn’t disappoint the following day! We were greeted with a friendly service, fresh juices and a wide selection of tasty treats. I opted for a refreshing bowl of fresh fruit and porridge with honey, followed by a scrumptious serving of avocado and eggs on toast. Of course, I had to try a pastry… maybe two! REST YOUR HEAD We enjoyed our time in a Signature Room that created the perfect relaxed atmosphere. The calming colour palette, wooden furnishings, warm lamps, and stunning artwork all contributed to a serene environment. The room had all the essential amenities, such as a large bed, toiletries, tea and coffee options, plush towels and complimentary Wi-Fi. Plus, a pillow menu lets us choose our ideal pillow firmness, whether we prefer something soft, firm or a mix of both, ensuring a restful and refreshing night’s sleep.
