Shirin and Steven knew each other from work and became closer over time. Things developed slowly as they got to know each other and realised they shared matching goals and aspirations. Steven proposed back in 2019 at The Shard in London on the eve of the Persian New Year, which occurs on the 20th of March. Shirin is half Persian, so it was a lovely moment that will be treasured for years. SETTING THE SCENE The couple tied the knot on 11th May 2023 at The Old Marylebone Town Hall, surrounded by loved ones. Their number one goal was to have a day to celebrate love with their favourite people in the world – they achieved just that! The Landmark London was the perfect setting to spend the night before the big day. The bride, her mum and maid-of-honour stayed the night after enjoyed cocktails and dinner locally in Marylebone. They picked somewhere spare for the moment after walking past and thinking it looked nice; it turned out to be the same place Steven and his best man George were having a drink! The bride says, “As we walked past, my mum and maid-of-honour realised before I did and quickly shouted so Steven wouldn’t see me the night before! We couldn’t believe that out of all the locations, we had ended up in the same place at the same time.” The pair love London and its history, so being in the central of the city in such a beautiful building was a dream come true. Steven found The Greenhouses, which had that element of an inside-outside wedding they were after. The breathtaking, intimate setting added a romantic atmosphere thanks to the stunning blooms. A classic London taxi in white not only transported the pair between venues but provided a photographic backdrop. As The Greenhouses already had many beautiful flowers, the pair chose to have white blooms in lots of little vases down the table. Small bags of the bride’s favourite Persian sweets were used for favours, a nod to her Persian heritage and as a nice touch for Stevens’ side of the family to have their first taste. Guests also enjoyed a white classic cake with white roses for a touch of elegance. The bride’s brother is a graphic designer, so he created the invites, place names, thank you cards and welcome signs to the table plan. The designs were black and white with white flowers to match the colour scheme. LOOKING THE PART The bride wanted a plain, classic dress and fell in love with a Morilee gown – it’s not hard to see why. She says, “I loved the material as it was so light and easy to move in – plus it had pockets! I added sleeves for that extra detail, and I loved the split that added an extra modern touch to the dress. I chose minimal accessories with a pearl bag and shoes with a big bow. I was pleased with my hair and makeup when my whole look came together; I felt excited to finally exchange vows!” Steven wore an ivory velvet tuxedo jacket from Reiss to stand out from the men, who all wore black tuxedo jackets. “I thought he looked incredibly handsome, like something out of a film and he smelt amazing”, says Shirin. The flowergirls and the maid-of-honour wore white to match the bride. MEMORABLE MOMENTS To keep loved ones entertained, the lovebirds had a trio of violinists before, during and after the ceremony who were fantastic. The team played beautifully and really set the scene for these special moments. The pair felt both excited and relaxed most of the day. It was only right before 31 REAL WEDDINGS
