BRIDAL BEAUTY What’s a classic bridal look I’ll love in my photos for years? Everyone is different; some brides want full glam, while others opt for natural looks as they don’t usually wear make-up. A classic bridal look would be a soft neutral smoky eye with a subtle shimmer on the lid paired with a nude lip. But you have to find what’s right for you as I’ve also had many brides wanting a 1950s look with bright red lips. Don’t try anything new on your wedding day; it’s not the time to take risks, as those photos will last forever – you’ll want to look and feel amazing. Your make-up artist will do a trial before the big day, so this is the time to try that smoky eye or red lip if desired, as your MUA can remove it and try something more neutral if you don’t feel comfortable. Also, arrange your hair trial on the same day to see the finished look fully before you decide. Remember to take photos at the trial for visual reference. On the big day, don’t forget a translucent powder compact in your bridal purse to use throughout the day and keep shine at bay! Many believe you need an eight-step skincare routine to see results and spend thousands on monthly treatments. However, consistency is critical, and simplicity is the easiest way to remain consistent. Fads and trends come and go, but it’s easy to get swept up in them – what works for your friend’s skin won’t necessarily work for yours. Keeping your routine simple makes it much easier to determine which products work for you and which do not. Cleansing your skin is so important, particularly in the evening. Cleaning off makeup, debris and dirt at the end of the day means your skin can breathe through the night and regulate oil production. You don’t need to wait for bedtime to cleanse your skin, so why not do it as soon as you get home? It will feel like much less of a chore. You don’t have to cleanse in the morning unless you have incredibly oily skin and would benefit from a morning cleanse. Hyaluronic acid is perfect for deep hydration for all skin types, particularly if a moisturiser is too heavy for your skin. Remember, slugging isn’t hydrating – its breakout inducing. An exfoliating acid or retinol is perfect for brightening and smoothing while increasing cellular turnover. A salicylic acid usually works well if retinol is too strong for your skin. Be sure not to use more than one exfoliator in your routine, as you don’t want to break down your skin’s barrier. UVA/UVB protection is essential all year round. It will protect you against harmful UV rays that penetrate through your skin, even on a cloudy/rainy day. It also protects against various weather extremes, such as harsh winds. Most people find their skin is better in the summer. However, it’s a short-term fix with long-term consequences such as pigmentation, rosacea/extreme sensitivity and dryness. A monthly facial is ideal for a deeper exfoliation, a chance to de-clog the pores and add intense hydration. My Glow Facial will treat all skin concerns and provide long-lasting results.
