Your London Wedding - March/April 2025 (Issue 100)

classic white Beetle from the 60s, adding a nostalgic flair to the day. For catering, a three-course sit-down meal by a local Basque kitchen. Ian’s brother, who was also the best man, kept the energy alive with tasty bagels in the evening. Every detail of Ian and Lou’s wedding was infused with love and meaning, making their special day a celebration of their union and a heartfelt tribute to their community. LOOKING THE PART Lou had chosen a stunning WED2B dress! She picked it out in about 45 minutes, trying on just two dresses before finding the one. The moment she wore it, tears flowed, and right then and there, she decided to buy it. The design was simple, but Lou wanted to add some flair with a dramatic veil and fun shoes. The veil was a sweet find on Vinted, and her shoes were pointed-toe ankle strap heels adorned with pearls from Rainbow Club. Ian looked dapper in a Hawes & Curtis suit paired with a Reiss waistcoat. He chose a second-hand Hermès tie from eBay, drawn to its vibrant colour and quirky owl print. Lou gifted him some elegant pearl cufflinks for the special day with new shoes from Loake. When it came to the big day, Ian felt relief as he admired his reflection. After trying on countless combinations of suits, ties and pocket squares, he had almost lost track of what his outfit would ultimately look like. But after seeing himself on the big day, he was genuinely pleased with his choices. Lou echoed this sentiment, thrilled with how everything came together. The flowers were breathtaking, far exceeding her expectations. The wedding party was a colourful ensemble of bridesmen, bridesmaids, groomsmen and groomspeople, all thoughtfully coordinated. The couple took inspiration for the attire from their invitation, which featured orange and blue colours. MEMORABLE MOMENTS The couple had a magical day surrounded by loved ones. Ian comments, “It was an emotional day! I enjoyed the ceremony (despite many tears) and I think, above all, I felt very loved and privileged. People came a long way to celebrate with us and brought so much love and positivity to the day. I don’t think I’ll ever forget those moments waiting for Lou before the ceremony and then the moment she arrived – that was very special.” Many people went above and beyond to ensure the pair received the perfect day! The groom comments, “There are too many people to mention, but some special mentions should go to my cousin and best man Will for marshalling the day, the speeches including Lou’s dad and best woman who had everyone laughing, Monica at Basque Kitchen for some unforgettable food, our local florists for some beautiful bouquets, and Monika at Inspired by July Photography who captured gorgeous images.” HONEYMOON Instead of taking the bus back to their home as they initially planned, the couple received great advice to book a hotel in London for a night or two before starting their honeymoon. The pair spent a week in Greece, specifically in Naxos, where they found the scenery to be stunning, the atmosphere relaxed and the experience truly special. REAL WEDDINGS 29
