Your Kent Wedding - March/April 2025 (Issue 119)

CHIDDINGSTONE CASTLE www.chiddingstonecastle.org.uk/weddings weddings@chiddingstonecastle.org.uk A Grade II* listed historic house, Chiddingstone Castle boasts 35 acres of informal grounds comprising sweeping lawns, lake, bridges, wild woodlands and breathtaking views of the Kent countryside. The castle makes a magnificent backdrop for a wedding; turrets, towers, beautiful stonework and impressively large doors add a unique grandness, whilst still being small enough to offer intimate charm. To begin the day the Bridal Suite, landing and grand staircase are perfect for celebrating the morning and capturing pre-ceremony photographs. For vows, the award-winning Grade II listed Victorian Orangery is one of the most unique venues in Kent for an outdoor civil ceremony. The Victorian stone structure has a modern twist with its stunning architecturally award-winning glass roof. Guests take their places in rows of chairs set out on the lawn, for up to 400 guests. The Great Hall is a grand, formal room of Tudor heritage reflected in its dark oak panelling and period paintings and can seat up to 80 guests. The newlyweds sign the register at the 17th-century oak refectory table beneath the stained-glass window and overlooking the courtyard rose garden – with an aisle created from the Print Room behind. The White Rose Drawing Room is a light and elegant room with breathtaking views of the Weald and features walls hung with paintings of the Stuart monarchs. It also boasts high ceilings, large, double aspect windows and a stunning stone fireplace; it’s perfect for a smaller, more intimate ceremony of up to 60 guests. Whilst not part of Chiddingstone Castle, St Mary’s Church, in the idyllic Tudor village of Chiddingstone, is a short walk through the grounds for those that would prefer a religious ceremony. Post-vows, as couples have exclusive use, all the rooms at the castle are flexible; drinks receptions, the wedding breakfast and evening receptions take place in a variety of places depending on preference, including the South Lawn. Should the wedding breakfast exceed 80 guests, use of the marquee increases capacity to 400 loved ones. The evening reception and dancing take place in The Great Hall. When tying the knot at Chiddingstone Castle, couples can benefit from an exclusive package, including an elite catering team who will provide mouthwatering food from best of British to cuisines from around the world. With talented sommeliers and mixologists serving a favourite tipple, all aspects are tailored to the happy couple. Chiddingstone Castle partner with several local, highly rated hotels and boutique bed and breakfasts, and when celebrations have come to an end, newlyweds can unwind in the luxury of executive transport to your chosen local accommodation. https://marcuscurryphotography.com https://marcuscurryphotography.com ROYAL WELLS HOTEL 01892 511 188 | https://royalwells.co.uk Royal Wells Hotel, in Tunbridge Wells, offers a sweeping view of The Commons providing the perfect wedding backdrop on your special day.
