Your Kent Wedding - May/June 2024 (Issue 114)

I loved the beads and sequins on my wedding dress. I wore a lace bolero over the top and was gifted a tiara by one of my bridesmaids. To finish my look, I accessorised with a necklace, a matching bracelet and earrings. The personal touches to the ceremony made by our celebrant, Laurina, made it so perfect; she really went above and beyond to make the ceremony extra special. Michael’s emotional speech had the whole room in tears, especially when he said he thought I had been born just for him. Being walked down the aisle by my two sons, Nathan and Dominic, also made the day extra special. Michael chose a suit that we sourced online to match the blue in the St. Lucian flag. He wore this with a bespoke waistcoat and bow tie made by his aunt from a traditional Creole material. We had the best day of our lives; every part was perfect and exactly as we had planned. I had accepted that my outdoor ceremony was probably not going to happen and was happy for it to be indoors in a room that was also beautiful; however, unknown to me, Michael made the last-minute decision to go ahead with our original plan. I came down from my room to be greeted by Natalie, our wedding coordinator, with a big smile on her face, who told me the ceremony was outside. As I walked down the aisle, the sun came out from behind the clouds. It was perfect timing and I remember looking at the stunning scenery and everyone in their blue and yellow outfits. My bridesmaids wore flowy, off-the-shoulder yellow dresses. In traditional Caribbean style, we had a steel pan duo playing while our guests were eating and as our evening guests arrived. The party was hosted by Intention’s Studio Sound, who had everyone dancing until the end of the night. We had been practicing our choreographed first dance for weeks but kept it a secret from everyone. The cheers and gasps when we started our dance made it so worth it; nobody expected it.
