The castle makes a magnificent backdrop for a wedding with real wow factor. Turrets, towers, beautiful stonework and impressively large doors add a unique grandness whilst still being small enough to offer intimate charm. For vows, the Grade II listed Victorian Orangery is one of the most unique venues in Kent for an outdoor civil ceremony. The Victorian stone structure has a modern twist with its stunning architecturally awardwinning glass roof. Guests take their places in rows of chairs set out on the lawn, usually 120 guests (to ensure a wet weather option), however up to 400 guests can be seated for a daytime-only wedding. The Great Hall (120 guests) is a grand, formal room of Tudor heritage reflected in its dark oak panelling and period paintings. The bridal couple sign the register at the 17th-century oak refectory table beneath the stained-glass window − overlooking the courtyard rose garden − with an aisle created from the Print Room behind. The White Rose Drawing Room is a light and elegant room with breathtaking views of the Weald and features walls hung with paintings of the Stuart monarchs. It also boasts high ceilings, large windows and a stunning stone fireplace; it’s perfect for a smaller, more intimate ceremony of up to 50 guests. Whilst not part of Chiddingstone Castle, St Mary’s Church in the idyllic Tudor village of Chiddingstone is a short walk through the grounds for those that would prefer a religious ceremony. Post-vows, all of the rooms at the castle are flexible as each couple has exclusive use of the building. Drinks receptions, the wedding breakfast and evening receptions take place in a variety of places depending on preference. If the wedding breakfast is more than 80 guests, use of the marquee increases capacity to 120 loved ones. The evening reception and dancing takes place in The Great Hall. When tying the knot here, couples can benefit from it being a dogfriendly venue, no corkage charge just a one-off drinks handling fee to arrange delivery/chilling/recycling if couples choose to supply their own drinks, and the Bridal Site, landing and staircase are perfect for preceremony photographs.
