Your Kent Wedding - January/February 2024 (Issue 112)

EDITOR’S TOP TIP Q What top tip do you have from the wonderful world of weddings? A In all my time of writing about weddings (20 years!) I have never seen this piece of advice, so I wanted to share a recent mishap I had with you and prevent the same happening to you. My sister is tying the knot in February and her make-up trial was booked for a lovely sunny Saturday morning in November. Due to be there at 10am, and it’s only 20-minutes away, I left at 9.30am meaning I would be early – what could go wrong right? Well, a flat tyre is what happened with an ensuing panic and trips to multiple local petrol garages to put air in it where they were either broken, blocked or being used! I arrived an hour late, I was mortified, I’m never late for anything. It got me thinking: thank god this wasn’t the day of the wedding, and I’m driving to her house to get ready or even take her to the wedding! I would never have thought to check the car was in working order, let alone the tyre pressure (I have a sensor for that too!). So, whether you’re the wedding couple, the bridal party or a guest, if you’re using your car on the big day, hen do or getting to the airport for your honeymoon, give your vehicle a once over – tyre pressure and all! Danielle, County Wedding Magazines editor, www.yourkent.wedding ROOM WITH A VIEW Q We’re having an al fresco wedding reception but do want to provide cover as you can never trust the weather, although we want to maintain the outside vibe! What style of marquee would give our desired reception feel? A A Trapeze marquee is the perfect solution. Our range of stunning and unique Trapeze marquees give an individual look to your event, their elegant and distinctive design eliminates the need for ropes, guy lines and linings, maximising your space. With their sweeping lines, Trapeze marquees are dramatically different to traditional framed styles. They look fantastic by day and amazing when lit at night. Should the weather not be on your side then Trapeze marquees are available with a choice of window walls or white-side walls, both can be opened in the centre to allow the outside in. It’s a sturdy and solid design making it superior to other similar shaped marquees. Our marquees are premium quality, and we aim to provide an excellent service with our professional and friendly staff. We will work out the best package for your event, being flexible until set up day with your choice of completely open, or adding walls for our ever-changing English weather. A The main thing to consider is whether or not the venue allows fireworks in the first place and, if they do, do they require them to be lower noise? Lower noise displays are just as impactful but you must manage your own expectations as the happy couple; you will not get to see a sky full of aerial shells but instead would be treated to a more gentle and wide-sweeping fan effect made up from ground material, single shots and candles. When done correctly they are just as dramatic and fill the sky with a similar presence just minus the noise! You could also consider having your display set to music and this really does make up for any shortfall in firework noise and is equally as dramatic!
