Q&A Fashion and beauty Look and feel your big-day best with help from the experts THE YEAR OF FABULOUS FABRICS CWM fashion editor Claire Ridley says: There’s plenty to love and look out for in new-season bridal dress designs. I’ve fallen for... Sustainable fabrics including organic lace, satin, Mikado and natural silk. Plain dresses featuring clean-cut lines with a minimalist aesthetic. Sheath-style gowns, created in stretch crepe and georgette showcasing fabulous front splits. Statement sleeves with lightly puffed styles adding the wow factor. A new take on princess-style dresses in the form of lace bodices adorned with beautiful beadwork and voluminous skirts made with layers of organza. The sassy mermaid silhouette, which has had an update for 2023, made in stretch crepe. Contoured corsetry boasting square or strapless necklines. Wide, low backlines providing a fresh update to the illusion look, along with the option to include cape veils. The midi-length dress with a soft tulle skirt (à la Carrie Bradshaw), which is still popular combined with off-the-shoulder sleeves. A touch of colour with dresses made in champagne and peach hues. Couture details such as structured box pleats with hidden pockets, lace appliqué and floral motifs. This issue we asked the county’s fashion and beauty experts for their top 2023 trend predictions, giving you the jump on the latest looks. This is what they told us... THE YEAR OF THE NO MAKE-UP LOOK Kent-based bridal make-up artist Ruth Ashcroft (www.instagram.com/ra.mua) says: I’m expecting 2023 brides to be asking for a flawless, fresh complexion with a minimal make-up look. The eyeshadow will be a less complicated combination of colours, leaning more towards a natural palette, which complements the individual’s own colouring. There could also be a hint of colour to slightly enhance the bride’s eye shade if needed, with everything working together in harmony. Then, there’s the ultra-natural look, which has been stripped back to the bare minimum or so it looks, but there will be products used. This all comes down to application and preparation of the skin. The no make-up make-up look is back! www.rosaclara.es/en Make-up @ra.mua, hair @lisatull_artistryhair © www.nnastiaphotography.com 2023 TRENDS 84
