Q&A Fashion and Beauty Look the best version of you with our expert advice https://unsplash.com/@laurenjean TIS THE SEASON What hairstyles would you suggest for a winter wonderland wedding? The best winter styles are the classic vintage looks. That would be your classic barrel curls, pleats, and vintage styles. The vintage roll is one of my favourites. It creates a strong yet elegant and classic finish, great for any dress style. You can see some of these looks on our website! Each person has their own unique features, including various face shapes and hair textures. However, these timeless vintage styles can be tailored to fit individual characteristics while maintaining the overall elegance of the look. Nicola Matthews | Muir-Chapman Hairdressing www.muir-chapmanhairdressing.co.uk DRESSED TO IMPRESS I have a pear-shaped figure. What style of dress do you recommend to show off my shape? For a beautiful pear-shaped figure, a classic A-line gown is perfect! This shape will draw attention to your waist and skim over your hips. Ballgowns also work in the same way, but if you find the perfect dress, a fit and flare can look sensational on a pear-shaped figure, especially with a Bardot neckline to balance out your curves – it would look amazing! Tara Reddish | Romsey Bridal Boutique www.romseybridal.co.uk ALL ABOUT THAT BASE What are the best ways to prepare my skin for our big day and the biggest pitfalls to avoid? BEAUTY PIE partnered with Kate Kerr, award-winning clinical facialist and skincare expert, to share five expert tips. Kate comments: For skin that’s not quite at its peak condition and may be dull, displaying small breakouts or slight rosacea, the top priority is to calm, strengthen and stabilise your skin before focusing on resurfacing and revitalisation. Generally, skin prep can start as early as six months in advance for more compromised skin, as it needs plenty of time for chronic inflammation to heal and repair. For those with healthy skin, six to eight weeks before the event will suffice. I discourage trying new active skincare ingredients or different products right before the big day. Active skincare ingredients can be stimulating, which may initially cause initial irritation and redness. The aim is to awaken and invigorate the skin slowly, gradually introducing more active ingredients as it repairs itself. Introduce active ingredients no less than four months before the wedding. This means you will have at least three (if not four) skin cycles for your skin to adjust to the active ingredients and allow them to restore radiance, boost overall health and address any targeted concerns. Introduce regular bespoke clinical facials tailored to your skin concerns – once every four weeks. If professional facials aren’t an option, try giving yourself an at-home version.
