Your Hampshire and Dorset Wedding - September/October 2024 (Issue 106)

FINDING THE ONE What should I do if I can’t find the wedding dress of my dreams? Have you been to multiple appointments and found lots of dresses you like, but something about them isn’t quite right? Maybe it’s the neckline, or the sleeves are not your desired shape? Plenty of beautiful dresses are available, but none truly resonate with you. If this describes your situation, I want to reassure you that you’re not alone; many others feel the same way, and it’s completely normal. No need to worry; you’ve come to the right spot! We have had many brides come to us and start their appointment saying they have no clue what they want, but as the appointment goes on, it turns out they already knew exactly what they wanted without realising. By knowing what you do not want actually reveals everything that you do want! For example, if you try on a high neckline and hate it, you can instantly dismiss any dress with this feature, and the same goes for shapes. This information has now revealed what you are looking for, such as a floaty A-line wedding dress with a V-neckline and some soft sleeves. You can always start a wedding dress diary and write down everything you do not like and anything you like if this helps. The last thing I wanted to mention is the question, ‘What do I do if I know what I want but can’t find it anywhere?’ This might mean that you’re ready to go bespoke. You could go to a local seamstress with your wedding dress diary and talk to them about how you could make this happen, and they’ll discuss all these options with you. Alternatively, we provide a bespoke wedding dress service where you can try on different sleeves, bodices and skirts to build your dress design. We would then create a mock-up version of this so you can see your dress, and it gives you the option to make any tweaks before we make your final design. You also get fashion illustrations, mood boards and fabric appointments during this process. It’s a fun way to design your wedding dress exactly how you want it without the guesswork – it’s not as scary as you think! What would you suggest? The first part of deciding on your wedding flowers is finding the perfect florist so you’ll have the most beautiful wedding florals. Find a supplier that aligns with your vision for the wedding day. You must choose someone whose work you love and are drawn to and who you click with. Look at their work portfolio, website and social media to discover their background in weddings and their experience. This is one of your most important days, and you should have a professional florist who is highly experienced in weddings. They should be able to show you their real-life weddings, reviews and also be able to answer all your questions, queries and fill you with confidence to produce beautiful florals on your wedding day.
