The romantic ruins, charming Jacobean-style Knot Garden, Tudor Great Barn and nearby river walk, offer the perfect backdrop for memorable moments and plenty of opportunities for gorgeous photographs. The friendly, passionate team will work with lovebirds to ensure that events are meticulously planned, offering advice and support whenever needed. As a charity, all money raised from weddings goes back into the care and conservation of Hampshire Cultural Trust sites. Basing House has two charming wedding settings, the Tudor Great Barn and Meadow, plus the Garden Museum and Knot Garden. Both are licensed for marriage and civil partnership ceremonies. The Tudor Great Barn, built from over half a million bricks and tiles, boasts a magnificent oak-framed roof and proudly wears its Civil War battle scars. This enchanting setting offers plenty of original features, yet it’s also a blank canvas for couples to add their own stamp. With the flexibility to comfortably seat up to 250 for ceremonies and dining as well as up to 310 for the evenings, the space ensures that even smaller wedding parties won’t feel overwhelmed by space. Outside, the meadow is the perfect setting for al fresco celebrations, with the cart shed accommodating up to 120 guests. The meadow is ideal for drinks after the vows or on arrival for receptions only, offering a beautiful outdoor space for couples and their guests to enjoy. Across the road from the Great Barn are the romantic ruins of Basing House. No stately home would have been complete without its formal gardens – a place for relaxation and entertainment – and Basing House, with its charming walled gardens, is no exception. Having entertained monarchs and nobility throughout its history, there’s no better place for wedding receptions than the Jacobean Knot Garden. Large marquees can easily fit within the space for feasting, dancing and celebrating. Intimate wedding ceremonies for up to 30 guests can occur in the Garden Museum inside the lodge, with stunning garden views. www.nkphotography.uk www.nkphotography.uk 23 LOCAL VENUES www.sarahhoylephotography.co.uk
