It was essential to the couple that she had something that she loved, and David made it so that it could be used as a corset and/or skirt for future events. TIME TO CELEBRATE The lovebirds had Colin Phillips Magician for the cocktail hour and the wedding breakfast. Sean comments, “We’ve known Colin for years, and he did not disappoint. You know that you’ve got someone amazing when they are performing for the top table, and the highly experienced photographer and videographer are so mesmerised that they forget to record it! As a bit of a surprise, we contacted Manic Stage Productions (someone else we have worked with over the years) to provide fire dancers in the garden for the evening reception, when we moved from the main house to the coach house. General feedback from our guests was along the lines of ‘that’s just insane’, so we think they were a hit! Again, it came down to not wanting our wedding-supplier guests to feel like it was another day at the office. Dean John was enlisted to look after the music throughout the day and the evening disco; he did an excellent job. Sarah from Swit-Swoo brought one of her fantastic photobooths, which was busy all night!” MEMORABLE MOMENTS Neither the bride nor groom stopped smiling all day, which says it all! Sean says, “Honestly, it was amazing to finally be able to stand in front of the people that we love and get married. The whole day was just a dream and passed far too quickly. “We can’t recommend Nicola from Behind-the-Scenes Events highly enough! We asked her to take the lead for the month leading up to the wedding and on the day, liaising with suppliers and making sure that we didn’t miss anything or have to worry about a thing. She made a few suggestions when we had the initial meeting and was there to reassure me when I had a bit of a wobble as to some of my choices – the day went flawlessly. To top it all, she ‘packed down’ the venue in the evening, handing us a key to a packed vehicle as we headed to our taxi – everyone needs a Nicola! The same goes for Ground Films. The team sent us our teaser trailer while we were on honeymoon; we were absolutely blown away! We shared it with friends, and the consensus was, ‘Wow, we want more!’. “Cindy at The Country Celebrant gave us a fantastic, personal ceremony. She created the handfasting cord to match the colours in my kilt and made us all laugh – we couldn’t have hoped for better. Honestly, we could go on and on about our suppliers. Being in the wedding industry, we’re lucky to have met some fantastic people who are great at their jobs and who happened to be free on our date. They were magnificent, and we’re so grateful to them all.” HONEYMOON The couple went to Somerset for a week over Christmas with their three dogs. The groom says, “It was our first trip away together in 16 years. While wet and windy, being away together was a fantastic feeling. Like many couples who have been together a long time, we realised that we hadn’t made time for our relationship, so we vowed to do better going forward!” REAL WEDDINGS 49
