The outside wedding pergola was decorated with fabric and flowers. My father-in-law made wooden boxes which were also filled with flowers and dotted along the bridal aisle. Greg’s mum, Sally, created all our other venue flowers. We wanted a whimsical and natural look to match the wildflower country theme. She filled hundreds of vases on the tables (collected from charity shops), and huge milk churns outside the venue. My mother, Barbara, made the bridal party bouquets with my favourite flowers, including daisies for my middle name, they were all tied with vintage lace and ribbon. The bouquets were just perfect, better than I could have ever imagined and truly unique. We didn’t have centrepieces, but flower vases dotted along the table. Our favours were bottles of homemade sloe gin, and packets of wildflower seeds for the birds and the bees. For our table plan, we went for long tables as we loved the look and found them more sociable. My sister made the table plan using wildflowers she pressed, and it had the quote: ‘If I had a flower for every time I thought of you, I could walk through my garden forever.’ REAL WEDDINGS 43
