Your Hampshire and Dorset Wedding - January/February 2024 (Issue 102)

PORTLAND PAELLA This small family-run business run by husband and wife, Colm and Jenna, started as a side hustle with pop-up paella nights at Quiddles Cafe on Chesil Beach in 2019. As the business grew over the years, they can now dedicate summers to wedding and event catering too! All paella is freshly cooked from scratch in a pop-up gazebo at your chosen location, where guests are always amazed by the delicious smells and size of the pans used for cooking. The couple offers a range of options to suit the style and budget of your event, with a choice of three flavours: seafood, chicken and chorizo, and vegetable paella. The dishes are served in environmentally friendly and sustainable packaging with wooden cutlery and paper napkins. The team can also offer a side salad of green leaves and freshly cut speciality loaves for those who’d like something extra. Colm and Jenna are always so proud of the feedback they receive from happy customers; they’re proud to be booked for many weddings in the local area at the most varied venues this coming year. From private homes, country homes, and private estates to farms, barns, and fields, they can cater for 30 to 300 people with no stress or fuss. The team’s mission is to create truly spectacular dishes that will wow guests without compromising values. Their innovative approach promotes sustainability and seasonal food living in alignment with nature and ethics. Founder and owner Magda Zuber says, “We pride ourselves in being different; none of the shelves, standard set menus, messy buffets and repetitive dishes lacking personality and flair. Each menu is specially curated while considering your preferences, the mood of the venue, the location of your wedding and your favourite cuisine. We specialise in designing menus that will speak to a wide range of your guests, as we understand organising a vegan wedding is a courageous and bold decision – we will support you all the way. We can design a menu that will be more than just food; it will tell your story and reflect your personality.” All food is 100 per cent handmade, locally sourced wherever possible, cooked in small batches and carefully seasoned. The team believes in making memories through food; your special day deserves the best. They can provide spectacular canapés, sharing family-style platters, evening grazing tables, and pre and post-wedding brunches. The staff also offers elegant plated dishes for wedding receptions or wedding breakfasts. After starting the business with a vintage cart named after the company, Samantha has since obtained two more and a range of décor items available to hire. She understands exactly how important a wedding day can be to some people and creating her wedding taught her you can’t be in two places at once, which is why her ethos is about giving the customer exactly what they want! The carts are versatile, from sweets and drinks to games and cake. Samantha comments, “I enjoy decorating the carts to match the customer’s theme and colour scheme. Every wedding should be as special and unique as the couple getting married!” As well as the cart service, Samantha offers a variety of décor pieces for hire at competitive prices to create dream weddings.
