CHARLOTTE CORNELIUS BESPOKE JEWELLERY After starting up the jewellery design business from her home studio when her twin daughters were toddlers, Charlotte Cornelius was on a mission to make bespoke design accessible to more people. So, she started focusing on offering individually handmade wedding rings to couples who wanted a more personal experience, and the company evolved from there! Charlotte says, “I hope the joy of a personal creative experience still makes our company stand out! We’re constantly looking to grow and stretch ourselves to bring the best to our growing client base. We’re always pushing the boundaries, whether sourcing incredible gemstones or being industry leaders by running sustainability through the heart of all we do. We have a box of tissues on standby as clients get overcome by emotion when they collect their completed pieces. There’s nothing more satisfying than watching people’s faces as they open our little silver boxes to reveal their unique piece of jewellery that they’ll treasure forever – it’s like an episode of The Repair Shop almost every day!” The company are one of the few jewellery boutiques with on-site designers and a workshop. The team of three talented goldsmiths can offer so much expertise to customers; this includes the incredible journey of remodelling inherited jewellery to transform the metal and stones into an exquisite new piece, continuing the legacy for future generations. The team’s mission is to bring ‘jewellery for life’ in all its meanings. She says, “I’d always been passionate about craft and dried flowers! I started creating wreaths and garlands for people to purchase for their homes before falling in love with large-scale installations in hospitality venues and events. It led me to create stunning arrangements for weddings.” The company offers everything from buttonholes to large-scale archways and chandeliers to create the perfect setting. There are many florists in the UK, but Catherine has vast experience only working with dried flowers. She comments, “I love being able to recreate exactly what a bride has in her head to create a dream look. My favourite part of the job is when a bride sees her bouquet for the first time.” The wonderful thing about dried flowers for weddings is that everything can be kept without needing to deconstruct bouquets and preserve them – they will last for years. Catherine also offers a rental option for chandeliers and archways as well as a bespoke service. At the beginning of 2020, she started using resin and never looked back. Collete says, “I aim to create something beautiful and unusual for my customers, whether preserving wedding flowers and then encapsulating them into resin to make a lasting keepsake or creating a memorial piece for a pet or a loved one from ashes. “The company offers a personalised and local service, which means the team can collect florals to start drying as soon as possible to ensure the blooms keep their shape and colour. Pairs won’t have to post flowers, pay postage or risk delays. The small business offers excellent customer service and value for money; Collete can provide something for every budget, making that keepsake achievable for everyone. “I sometimes surprise myself with where my creativity takes me; I always strive to find something different and individual for my customers,” says Collete. Adding a laser engraver and cutter to her gadgets has allowed the supplier to take her creations to another level with a range of personalised items, from wedding favours to gifts.
