JEWELLERY AFTER CARE How to care for wedding jewellery after the big day? After the big day, whether it be your engagement ring, wedding ring or bridal/groom jewellery, they all deserve the same aftercare. To keep everything looking beautiful and in the best condition, I recommend you follow the steps below to provide the best care for your pieces. •Keep jewellery away from moisture. •Store the pieces in a closed bag or box whilst not being worn. •Clean gently with an old/soft bristle toothbrush, warm water and washing up liquid – dry thoroughly. •Allow perfumes and lotions to dry fully before wearing any pieces. •Remove the jewellery when sleeping, showering, cleaning, gardening or exercising. Sarah Heulwen Lewis | Heulwen Lewis Bespoke Jewellery www.heulwenlewisbespoke.com WHAT’S YOUR FLAVOUR? What are the most popular wedding cake flavours? The key thing to consider is what you truly want or enjoy. I can share popular ideas or suggest combinations that might work well. However, if I recommend something that doesn’t resonate with you, it could dampen the excitement and turn it into something you feel obligated to choose. Remember, your wedding should reflect your preferences, which matters most! In the eight years I’ve run The Mad Batter, I’ve had just one inquiry about a fruit cake topped with marzipan and icing. If tradition is your top priority, then that’s the way to go without hesitation. However, it’s your wedding, and it’s all about what you desire, so be sure to include all your favourite treats. Whether that means opting for various desserts or mixing different flavours for the tiers, what you love should always take precedence on your special day. If we’re talking seasonal advice and pairings, then spring and summer usually look like Victoria sponge, strawberry and prosecco, lemon and blueberry, white chocolate and raspberry and elderflower flavours. In winter, it changes to carrot cake, chocolate orange, salted caramel and apple and cinnamon. Seasonal always work well when using fresh ingredients, the cake will taste amazing while reflecting the time of year you’re getting married. Your wedding day is one of the most important days in your life as you start your new journey together alongside family and friends. Not only do you want to come away with your special memories, but you also want it to be a memorable day for your guests. Weddings are a celebration of love, and lots of planning goes into your wedding: the venue, the dress, the photographer, the first dance and more. But equally important is what to feed your guests. A starting point is to think about what represents you as a couple. Whether it’s a rustic-themed tipi wedding in the middle of a field, a barn conversion, an elegant country house or a dry hire venue, then a vintage-themed afternoon tea for the wedding breakfast may be exactly what you’re looking for to bring the wow factor to your special day. At Elegance China Hire, we offer a beautiful range of vintage china with everything needed for your wedding day vintage afternoon tea. Our eclectic range of cups, saucers, plates, cake stands, and tea and coffee pots are vibrant and are hand-selected for your wedding to complete the vintage ambience. Another deciding factor for couples going down the afternoon tea route may be down to budget as serving afternoon tea is more favourable for those on a tight budget, but we have also done weddings with a blended approach of serving a three-course meal with the vintage china being used for the dessert and after dinner tea/coffee course. We work closely with caterers and other suppliers to ensure the perfect day. Caroline Inglis | Elegance China Hire www.elegancechinahire.co.uk https://gazzafilms.com EXPERT ADVICE 63
