We were very keen to create a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere where we and our guests would feel comfortable and could enjoy the day. The environment is also important to us, so we wanted to make sure we were as sustainable as possible and that as much as possible could be reused. In the evening, we had a ceilidh band and the ceilidh caller gave very helpful instructions, which is great for people like us with no coordination. It was also great for getting lots of different people involved and you interact with everyone during the dances. Emma wore an emerald silk dress with a dark blue flowery lining. The dress was designed and made by a local dressmaker, Caroline Couture, who was great at taking Emma’s initial ideas and crafting a very personal design. The dress was a ballgown style with a pleated top section which was fun, colourful and comfortable for dancing. Emma accessorised with a bird neckless and flower crown made of native flowers. The cake was decorated to show wildflowers and animals and included a hedgehog in the undergrowth and 3D icing swallowtail butterflies because of Andrew’s Norfolk heritage. Our wedding party chose their outfits based on a simple brief. The bridespeople wore light blue dresses and the groomspeople wore blue suits, this gave a great individual style. The wedding party all chose their flower decorations with a range of buttonholes, flower crowns and flower bracelets. Our wedding party made the day special by being so supportive and helpful throughout the day. Having my mother doing the Christian blessing was also very special because it was a lovely connection from family to marriage. 42
