Your Gloucestershire and Wiltshire Wedding - December/January 2023/2024 (Issue 42)

“Each table had a QR code on the back of the menu so our guests could upload their wedding photos later. This way, we could see our special day through the eyes of our guests as well as the official photography. Our tables had glass vases decorated with peacock ribbon and silk flowers, accompanied by real foliage.” - Sammy and Graeme Sammy and Graeme met while at university when they both went on a skiing trip to France. “We bonded over being beginners on the slopes and throwing some interesting shapes on the dancefloor,” they tell us. “I was immediately attracted to Sammy and, at the advice of my friends, I thought I was playing it cool by waiting an entire day to ask her out!” Graeme says. “For our first date, keen to impress, I planned a tour around some of the best cocktails bars – but I was so nervous that I arranged the meeting time for two hours before the music started in the first bar and then I missed her numerous hints for food while asking the waitress for more free popcorn! Still, it can’t have gone too badly, because by spring we’d become inseparable.” Sammy adds, “We got on so well, sharing the same humour, values and outlook on life so I knew he was a keeper.” The couple became engaged during a holiday to Turkey. “I proposed at Princess Islands where there’s a small church at the top of a large hill overlooking Istanbul,” Graeme tells us. “It was a relief that Sammy hadn’t guessed I was going to ask her because it was a wonderful surprise!” Here, the couple tell us all about their summer garden party wedding at Larmer Tree in Salisbury which was decorated with a forest green, gold and navy theme. “To be surrounded by the most important people from the different stages of our lives, all gathered in one place together, felt so exciting.” - Sammy and Graeme “We searched for a venue that gave us a summer garden party vibe, beautiful enough not to need much extra décor, but big enough to feature a large enough dancefloor for a ceilidh band to perform.” - Sammy and Graeme “King John House, located a short drive away, provided guest accommodation and meant that we could celebrate a three-day weekend away with our loved ones.” - Sammy and Graeme “We also wanted our venue to offer a wedding coordinator to take away any behind-the-scenes stress from us on the day. After visiting Larmer Tree, nothing else compared and luckily, they had one Saturday date during the summer months left.” - Sammy and Graeme “Sammy looked so beautiful walking down the aisle” - Graeme 32
