Your East Midlands Wedding - April/May 2023 (Issue 55)

a freestanding gold frame behind the bride and groom during the wedding breakfast. She added another light behind the DJ booth in the evening. The guestbook and card table was at the entrance to the marquee with burnt orange and white chiffon, bud vases with gypsophila, tea lights and a frosted Perspex sign in a small gold frame. Instead of a typical guestbook, it featured personal photos from the couple’s relationship and engagement shoot. Guests signed blank pages with gold and silver Sharpies; this now is the most precious coffee table book at the newlyweds home. FOOD FOR THOUGHT The venue provided the catering on the day and created delicious dishes that everyone enjoyed. Rhianne says, “The food was locally sourced, which was important to us, and the chef is known to be one of the best in Leicestershire!” The pair had a tasting session to pick the menu choices and went with organic tomato bisque with creme fraiche and basil pesto or country pâté with spiced pear chutney and orange-flavoured brioche to start. Roast rump of Cumbrian lamb or free-range chicken was served for mains with dauphinoise potatoes, carrots and Madeira sauce. Caramelised apple and a custard tart with clotted cream and toasted oats were for dessert, with ice-cold moet for the toasts. The pair provided popcorn, sweets and freshly cooked pizza to keep loved ones from going hungry in the evening. They also had a white Lambeth-style cake featuring their wedding monogram on top – All The Good Stuff Bakery did a fantastic job! The lemon, cherry Bakewell and Victoria sponge tiers were a hit with guests. LOOKING THE PART After trying a few gowns, the bride decided to get a bespoke dress created by AvaMia Couture. Rhianne says, “I met with Halle at her boutique and showed her my ideas before the team returned with the most incredible design. I wanted a dress that looked romantic and royal for the daytime before removing the sleeves in the evening for the perfect party dress. “ The bride went for a sweetheart neckline with a corset-style body, sheer panelling, a low back, a mermaid fit, plenty of sparkles and a front split. The team added a nude lining to create an off-white colour, and they sewed a handwritten note to the bottom of the dress from the bride’s grandparents. The bride chose not to wear a veil and instead went with a personalised ribbon made from tulle with their wedding date on one side and the song title that she walked down the aisle to on the other. She also wore her grandma’s silver pearl earrings as something borrowed and a sparkly tennis bracelet from her mum as a something new. Danny wore the Jenson sky blue two-piece suit with a royal blue doublebreasted waistcoat from Marc Darcy. The orange thread in the chequered design matched the colour scheme perfectly. He also had sparkly gold shoes by Kurt Geiger, which made sure everyone knew when he was in the room! A white woven Moss Bros shirt with a burnt orange tie, pocket square and tie clip by Cavani finished his look off perfectly. The groomsmen wore Max royal blue trousers and blazers with the Jenson check double-breasted waistcoats. The maid-of-honours, the bride’s sisters, wore burnt orange satin slip dresses with personalised jewellery and gold heels. TIME TO CELEBRATE The couple’s good friend James Toseland played the keyboard as guests took their seats for the ceremony, James Arthur’s Say You Won’t Let Go as the bride walked down the aisle and Van Morrison Brown Eyed Girl when the newlyweds exited. He even wrote them a song for their first dance, which he performed on the day. The bride says, “Listening to a song written for us and being performed live by a special friend is such a special moment, and we cannot thank him enough.” Rhianne’s uncle and a local Midlands performer Tann-I Browne then did a Bob Marley tribute during the cocktail hour – everybody loves a Bob Marley sing-along! DJ Glamour and DJ LEB performed in the evening and played all the couple’s favourite music – the pair didn’t leave the dancefloor once! 28
