Your East Anglian Wedding - December/January 2024/2025 (Issue 70)

For our food, we hired Jamie Lee Smith Catering. We had canapés for our guests while we had our photos taken and then for the speeches and wedding breakfast, we chose a choice of steak or chicken and lemon tart or cheesecake. We bought a basic sweet cart that we painted and put our own touch on, adding neon lights, LED vines, wooden name plates, wicker baskets for tongs, scoops and personalised sweet bags. We also purchased a wooden wedding arch and added drapes, silk flowers and a large neon sign. We handmade an order-of-the-day wooden sign, table layout frame, sparkler box and also a wicker flip-flop basket. To complete the look, we added personalised glow sticks and my grandparents wicker basket. Our cake was a single-tier Victoria sponge with buttercream and our initials on the side from Casper’s Catering and Cakes. We also had 100 cupcakes made up of lemon drizzle, Victoria sponge, red velvet, and chocolate and black cherry, which we placed on a wooden tree stand. For the centrepieces, we chose wooden slabs with pink PVC numbers and wire lights wrapped around a round wooden crate that we decorated with pink and cream silk flowers. We chose to have a top table that sat eight people, which we decorated with a long pink cloth and silk flowers. I spent my youth camping with Cubs and Scouts at Haughley Park and I knew it would be the perfect place for us. This was also the last place I took my grandad with my daughter before he passed, so it has a special place in my heart. Cally fell in love with the location as soon as we walked around the barn and gardens. 48
