Make sure you book a hair and make-up trial; it’s the perfect time to sit with your supplier, talk through your look and ask any questions that you may have. It also means that you can try several looks, so if the idea you have in your head doesn’t look quite like you imagined, then it doesn’t matter; you can keep trying styles until you find the perfect look for you. Katy and James chose a rustic theme for their wedding at Happy Valley Norfolk Images courtesy of Aurora Grey Photography ROMANCE Katy and James met through work and quickly became friends. “We got in touch again a few years later and that initial friendship meant we just felt comfortable together, but it was still so exciting,” says Katy. “I just remember on the first date non-stop smiling and being big kids together at the funfair.” James proposed on a beach in Hastings, in the same spot where the couple met for their first date. “He had put together a treasure hunt, which led us to discover the ‘treasure’ aka the engagement ring and he popped the question,” shares the bride. “The whole day had been so thoughtfully planned out – it was such a surprise that he had kept very well hidden.” Read on to see some of Katy’s favourite moments from their big day... Our incredible florist, Lauren Shaw from Wild Spirit Florist, put together a floral climbing installation around the tree we got married in front of, and the amazing team at Boomting Bunting added drapes to finish off the whole look. It was so perfect and I loved it. Happy Valley Norfolk is such a magical place – you can tell straight away that Katie and Scott have put so much love into making the venue special. We both knew that it was where we wanted to get married; the relaxed woodland vibe was so perfect. To decorate the space, we included funfair-type signage from the amazing Kate Seawood at I Like Pens Studio. We added fairylights, colourful bunting and beautiful brass candlestick holders from Proposal Wedding Hire to finish off the tables. We wanted the day to feel relaxed but still have the wow factor and Boomting Bunting and Wild Spirit Florist really made that happen for us. We named our tables after funfair rides, as our first date was at the funfair. For our favours, we purchased sunflower seeds from the mental health charity Mind. Gold Leaf Catering created a fabulous barbecue spread for each table. We had a beautiful spread of cakes, which guests could help themselves to, all made possible by the brilliant Amber from Love Wedding Cakes. 36
