Your East Anglian Wedding - December/January 2023/2024 (Issue 64)

The marquee was a sight to behold. It was a laid-back yet captivating space adorned with lanterns, twinkling fairylights, and an illuminated love sign. Adding to the charm was an antique suitcase brimming with an array of delightful sweets, all thoughtfully curated to harmonise with our lavender theme. I was drawn to Cley Windmill because of its unique charm and picturesque setting. The windmill’s rustic yet elegant ambiance, coupled with its stunning coastal location, captured my heart. The historical character, breathtaking views, and sense of intimacy made the perfect backdrop for our special day, creating an unforgettable and romantic atmosphere that resonated deeply with my vision of a dream wedding. Our aim was to evoke a soothing atmosphere that harmonised with the venue’s essence while also highlighting the distinctive qualities of the windmill itself. For our favours, we opted for cookies crafted in the likeness of a windmill, and to extend the sense of tranquilly, we provided lavender and pampas grass tokens for our guests to take home. This was a perfect match to the exquisite centrepieces thoughtfully designed by Bev from Serendipity Wedding Hire. Upon entering Cley Windmill, our guests were met with a stunning wedding sign extending a warm welcome to our celebration. Adjacent to this was a bicycle adorned with flowers. Our cake was provided by Scrumptious Buns and was adorned with lavender piping and fresh flowers. The ceremony location featured exquisite seating arrangements with purple blooms gracing each chair, as well as delicate flowers on the ropes near the reeds of the windmill. 36
