Your East Anglian Wedding - August/September 2023 (Issue 62)

A MEMORABLE MOMENT How can we make our wedding ceremony personal to us? There are so many ways that your ceremony can be personal to you. Firstly, consider the use of a celebrant, they are not confined to the structure of legal words which a registrar would be, allowing you to think outside the box. It’s your special day, so share your love story with your family and friends and take them on your journey together. Consider involving family members in different ways, be it through the use of a ritual during your service, such as a sand ceremony or hand tying and have your family choose colours that represent you as individuals and as a couple. There are so many options and bespoke rituals that can be created around your loves and passions; the possibilities are endless. Write your vows to each other. A celebrant can assist you with this if you wish, and your words can come from the heart and be specific to you as a couple. Location may also be very important, and with a celebrant, you are not restricted to a certain area of a venue, so if there is a special place you wish to marry which is personal to you, consider a celebrant. We can also incorporate animals into your ceremony and even have them place a paw print on your commemorative certificate at the end. The options are endless. Robert Head www.oaktreeceremonies.co.uk FLY AWAY WITH ME What honeymoon destinations are popular at the moment? I’m going to answer this with a question, where do you picture yourselves when you think of your honeymoon? This answer is different for everyone, and that’s how a honeymoon should be. You wouldn’t buy an unflattering dress that looked great on someone else just because it’s the in-style dress of the month, so why would you do the same for your honeymoon? You could consider gorgeous beaches in Mauritius, Maldives, Bali and Hawaii or cultural adventures through Thailand, Vietnam and South America. Consider a life-changing animal encounter on a safari in South Africa, Kenya or Tanzania, or discover the wild west travelling through America. Enjoy ultimate luxury aboard a river or ocean cruise taking in multiple destinations, or perhaps a private tour off the beaten track is more your vibe. What’s great about using a travel consultant like us is that the world is your oyster, and we want you to experience it your way. Once you’re a married couple, this will be your first holiday together, so making sure it’s right for both of you is important to us. Think about what you want from the destination rather than where you want to go, and that’s where a consultant’s personal service really comes into play. Matt and Ashley www.travelchaps.co.uk www.lentschphotography.com PURE LUXURY We’d love to have a luxurious cake on our big day, but we’re worried about the price tag. Do you have any ideas of how we can keep the cost down? Luxurious wedding cakes come at a higher price due to their size and the intricate details often requested. One way to get maximum detail without spending hours piping on the cake is to use stencilling; there are some amazing designs available that will get the intricate finish you require. Increasing the quantity of cake can be costly, so you could use stands to create a big impact without having hundreds of portions of cake, such as filler tiers that can contain lights and fresh flowers, hoop stands that continue the floral theme of a cake or the new gravity-defying stands that give height to a cake. The best advice would be to find a cake designer with experience, give them a set budget and work together to create a luxurious design. They will quite often be able to offer options you may not have thought of. Terri Newman www.erivicacakes.com 58
