Q&A Beauty Hot tips and make-up advice for summer brides HERE COME THE GIRLS I have a big bridal party and we all need to have our hair and make-up done on the wedding morning. What’s the usual pecking order, who goes first the bride or the bridesmaids? I’m worried about the timings and getting flustered, especially if it’s a hot day, as we want to avoid the dreaded shine? Victoria says: When working with a large group, especially for a summer wedding, I find that most people are reluctant to be first in the make-up chair. Personally, I find it better to break the process down. Excluding the bride, I start by doing everyone else’s eye make-up, prepping well with my favourite P.Louise eye base as colours adhere to this really well and stand out beautifully. Once this is done I go back to do the foundation, contour and blusher, finishing with a great setting spray like the one by Urban Decay. If the skin feels hot, I use hyaluronic acid serum to cool it down before applying the base make-up. I like to leave the bride until last so that her make-up is freshest and it allows them time to chill out and reflect before the ceremony. It also helps prevent the nerves from building up too much and the risk of them touching and smudging their make-up. I provide a little touch-up kit including blotting paper in case any shine does break through. Laura Mercier translucent powder is great for this and is my go-to product for a quick freshen-up. Timings are important and I always work mine out to allow plenty of opportunity for the bride to get dressed without feeling stressed, have photos taken and enjoy a glass of fizz before leaving for the ceremony. Victoria says: First and foremost, aim to look like a refreshed and beautiful version of you. To achieve this in line with summer 2022 trends I recommend: ❤ Use a long-lasting foundation buffed into the skin for a natural effect. If you have dry skin, a hydrating base is key and for oily complexions, a matte one is best to control shine. ❤ Natural wispy lashes will enhance your eye shape and take your make-up into another realm. I love Sweed Nikki No Lash-Lash or hybrid eyelash extensions. ❤ A groomed brow makes a world of difference. Products such as Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Freeze styling wax will help them stay put all day and also subtly lift the eye ❤ Flawlessly blended bronzed skin is a summer must-have. Golden peachy hues where the sun naturally hits the face, top of the nose and across the cheeks, will give a youthful healthy glow. I love Chanel Les Beiges Gel Bronzer for foolproof application and sun-kissed skin. Make sure to match the shade to your décolletage for a seamless finish. ❤ Warm earthy shades will complement blue and green eyes, make them glow with a halo metallic mobile lid or keep it classic with a matte eyeshadow and clean black liner for all. ❤ Lip trends remain soft and natural with a liner such as Morphe Sweet Tea along with a pretty pink lipstick to accent like Charlotte Tilbury Dancefloor Princess or MAC Peach Blossom Creamsheen. ❤ Other ways to enhance a lovely summery look could include an eyebrow/ eyelash lift and tint, a face and body tan (I love Amanda Harrington), drinking plenty of water and using a factor 50 sun protection product such as La Roche-Posay Anti Shine gel cream.
