families. She was very personable and great to work with.” Amina and Leo’s theme was wildflowers teamed with autumnal colours inspired by the floral borders within the grounds of the Abbey. “My mum did a watercolour painting of Torre Abbey which inspired the colour palette,” Amina tells us. “I used this painting on our invites, table plans, welcome sign, and name cards.” The flowers were grown by Amina’s sister-in-law through the growing community Growshare in Totnes. “A talented friend of mine styled and arranged them,” she tells us. “We had crockery in muted colours with gold tones to display our cream tea tower – our Devon roots influenced this! The cute scone topper was knitted by my friend.” “The catering company Ad Hoc provided the food. “We chose a Middle Eastern Grill with flatbreads, dips, cous cous and kebabs,” Amina tells us. “Ben from Ad Hoc Catering was so creative with his flavours – he is very well-travelled and experienced which shines through in the dishes. We had so many comments from our guests on how delicious it tasted.” LOOKING THE PART “My dress was by the Parisian designer Donatelle Godart Paris,” Amina tells us. “It was very chic with a nod to tradition and a cheeky thigh split. The sleeves were very similar to the sleeves on my grandmother’s wedding dress which was handmade by my great-grandmother.” Amina teamed it with a pair of white gold shoes, an elegant gold necklace and a pair of drop pearl earrings. Leo wore a tailor-made suit while his groomsmen all wore their own suits. “Our beautiful bridesmaids chose their dresses from the muted colour palette inspired by the sea that I had given them,” Amina explains. TIME TO CELEBRATE Leo’s grandmother had written a treasure trail to guide their guests around the garden at the Abbey. “They loved this and it provided great entertainment,” Leo tells us. Singer Anna Batson performed some cover songs along with some of her original music at the couple’s reception. “She sang Harvest Moon by Neil Young for our first dance which was beautiful,” they tell us. “Her original covers are about love, friendship and nature which was perfect for the setting and our general relaxed vibe.” Amina and Leo booked a silent disco for their evening reception. “This was a big hit with our guests because we had three channels and it meant that people stayed on the dancefloor for a long time,” they tell us. “The speeches were full of emotion with not a dry eye in the house.” - Amina and Leo 43 REAL WEDDINGS
