Your Devon and Cornwall Wedding - September/October 2024 (Issue 51)

www.unsplash.com KEPT WEDDINGS Laura Dalton is an award-winning wedding planner in the UK and across the South West. She has plenty of suggestions for couples wanting to be sustainable when picking their wedding flowers. She tells us, “Choose a florist who grows their flowers or only purchases them locally. Some growers use toxic chemicals during the growing process, but some florists use natural and non-toxic chemicals.” Laura adds, “Requesting the use of alternative methods to display flowers using chicken wire, or frogs instead of floral foam is key, and choose vases or bowls instead of plastic trays. Donating the flowers after the wedding to a good cause, such as a local nursing home is a great way to prolong their life and repurposing arrangements where you can, like moving flowers from the church to the reception venue is a budget-friendly sustainable choice. My top tip for couples? Don’t forget to request the bouquets are delivered in glass vases, or eco-friendly packaging.” www.keptweddings.co.uk https://www.instagram.com/keptweddingswithlaura www.facebook.com/keptweddingswithlaura Butterfly Weddings using HollyBee Flowers.
