Our centrepieces were wildflowers arranged in jars. We used varieties of multi-coloured wildflowers mixed with greenery and wanted our favours to be natural with no plastic so we chose keys that were also bottle openers, and wildflower seed hearts. The speeches were heartfelt and entertaining. Tom did a very unusual 26-minute speech which somehow kept everyone entertained throughout, and ended with a rendition of Valerie by Amy Winehouse, changing the name ‘Valerie’ to ‘Melanie’ and finishing with an explosion of multicoloured (biodegradable) confetti, which each table had a box full of on their table to throw. We chose an earthy, vintage and boho-inspired theme styled with rustic pieces. At the end of the ceremony, we played This Must be the Place by Talking Heads and we wanted everyone to get up and dance with us – but they just sat and watched us dance – which was not what we intended and a little uncomfortable! We got them up and dancing eventually. “Our best friend and groomsman Ben did a dance and drum and bass set for the last two hours carrying on the party until 1.30 am.” - Mel and Tom At Hayne, you can choose your entertainment, decorations and catering to suit your taste and budget. Our catering options were simple and tasty. Our cake was white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake served as dessert. My hair and make-up expert, Willow de la Roche was incredible. She was so lovely and such a calming presence to have around in the preparation for the ceremony and celebrations. The hair and make-up were exactly how I wanted it and everybody was delighted with it. I wanted a natural look like I wasn’t wearing make-up and was over the moon with the outcome. I don’t often feel comfortable wearing my hair down, but she worked with me and what I felt comfortable with, and made my hair look stunning. “We felt incredibly lucky, happy, overwhelmed and emotional on our special day.” - Mel and Tom “I planned the entire wedding in four months!” - Mel 35 REAL WEDDINGS
