Mel and Tom met at a drum and bass night in Leeds when they were at university in the city. “We both love raving and drum and bass music and having fun,” Mel tells us. “We kissed early on, but then remained friends for five years before finally getting together as a couple.” Tom proposed at a cabin the couple loved to stay at in Cornwall. “This place has been very therapeutic for us individually and our relationship,” Mel says. “After a beautiful autumnal day, Tom spontaneously got down on one knee in the mud by the fire and made a moving speech about finally realising what’s important to him and begged me to let him spend the rest of his life making it up to me for putting up with him. I said, “Go on then, when you put it like that!” He tied a piece of organic matter around my finger instead of a ring and the next day we purchased a ring from a nearby scenic coastal town that was suitably organic looking, with a wood grain effect.” 33 REAL WEDDINGS
