Your Devon and Cornwall Wedding - May/June 2024 (Issue 49)

Emma and Aaron met in a local pub through a mutual friend. “Aaron was quiet while I was outgoing and making jokes all night,” Emma tells us. “Aaron was too shy to ask me out so he asked his friend to invite me to spend time with them both and eventually plucked up the courage to ask me on a date - the rest is history!” Aaron proposed on Christmas Eve in the couple’s first home. “He had made a puzzle from a picture of both of us and hid a piece inside each of my Christmas presents,” Emma tells us. “When I put it together, it said ‘Will you marry me’ and as I turned around, he was down on one knee in front of all my family which was a wonderful surprise!” SETTING THE SCENE The venue was located on the edge of Haytor and as soon as the couple viewed it, they knew it would be perfect for their circus theme because it was vintage in style. “I purchased a large black frame, some white cards and gold, red and black sparkly cards and started crafting the place names and a table plan!” Emma tells us. “The tables were named after the songs in The Greatest Showman including Rewrite the Stars and Tightrope. Our top table was called The Big Top.” For their centrepieces, Emma purchased large circular plain hat boxes and got her family involved. “We glued gold sparkly crowns and red gift wrapping around the boxes with “Aaron was driven to the venue in a Ford Mustang which is his dream car.” - Emma “We both felt happy, in love, excited...and tired from all the planning! Most of all, we were so grateful to our guests who came along to celebrate with us.” - Emma 27 REAL WEDDINGS
