The Devon Figaro Rally 2024 attracted 40 Figaro owners and the three days of convoy driving enjoyed the sights of Teignmouth, Torquay, Paignton, Stoke Fleming, Kingsbridge, Salcombe, Exmouth, Budleigh Salterton, Otterton, Sidmouth, Honiton, Postbridge, Tavistock, Ashburton, Chudleigh Knighton and Kingsteignton. Devon residents and tourists enjoyed the spectacle as the pastel procession made its way around the county. ST MORITZ HOTEL + COWSHED SPA UNDERGOES A SPA UPGRADE In June, St Moritz Hotel + Cowshed Spa, based in Trebetherick near Rock and Polzeath, will be opening its multi-million pound upgraded leisure facilities, re-instating the Cornish hotel as the optimum wellness destination in the south west. The result of this refurbishment project will be a complete rework of the hotel’s pool area into a new, slick and modern wellness space. Reimagining the immersive spa experience, the new wellness centre will feature a high-tech outdoor hydro pool, a spacious new steam room and a sauna alongside elemental ice fountains and sensory showers. The well-balanced design has been managed by Steve Coombe of 3idog who has been briefed to create a timelessly stylish space with a focus on the ultimate wellness experience. St Moritz Hotel is home to the only Cowshed Spa outside of Soho House properties and the only coastal one in the UK. The Soho House interior styling of the Cowshed Spa will be carried through with the addition of glamorous new changing rooms and indoor pool seating and lounging. With its Miami-inspired, colourful interiors, the tiling throughout will provide a classic and stylish aesthetic, with Italian rock and pebble-inspired signature flooring and marble white mosaics in the pools. For the walls, blocks of colour will complement blush pink tiles. The vivid fabric coloured patterns and stripes utilised on the stylish new four-poster day beds perfectly capture the vibrant and energetic essence of Miami, blending bold patterns and vivid hues such as turquoise, coral and sunny yellows to create an element of playfulness. Hugh Ridgway, the founder of St Moritz Hotel, says, “When we built St Moritz almost 15 years ago, we dedicated ourselves to being at the forefront of the needs and wants of 21st century Cornish holidaymakers and short-breakers. We built the ultimate Cornish coastal hotel, retaining only the original indoor swimming pool. However, almost 15 years on, it’s ready to retire. So, for 2024, we’re undertaking a £2+ million rebuild of our indoor swimming pool as an extension of our extremely popular coastal Cowshed Spa and in doing so, are stepping further into the luxury wellness landscape.” Sara Last, director of operations at the St Moritz Hotel + Cowshed Spa, said, “With our upcoming £2+ million spa renovation, and our current hot and cold contrast therapy Wild Spa, we are on an ongoing mission to make St Moritz Hotel the optimum wellness destination in the South West. We’re continually blending all our partners and their luxury wellness experiences – Cowshed Spa and our consultancy chef Stephane Delourme – alongside all of our passionate and committed team into this pioneering 21st-century wellness experience, that is perfectly placed for our location right here in the heart of Cornwall’s coastal playground.” Hugh Ridgway adds, “Whilst we undergo our major indoor swimming pool works, we have a whole new winter wonder for our guests and visitors in the form of our first-of-its-kind St Moritz Wild Spa, complete with an oceanside tipi, an inside/outside spa and a full rejuvenation programme running alongside it.” More than just a hotel, St Moritz and its Cowshed Spa has elements of a transatlantic beach resort on the stunning Cornish north coast. It’s the ideal destination for a relaxing beach holiday, indulgent spa break or a romantic honeymoon. Emma Wright, who runs Valleyside Barn & Escapes with her husband Matthew said, “To be honoured as the top glamping site in the South West is phenomenal and we are so happy and proud of this achievement! In 2022 we welcomed our first ‘wedding glampers’ and last year 70% of our couples also opted to book our glamping tents for their wedding accommodation. The option of having their closest family and friends stay on-site to celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime moment is appealing.” Valleyside Escapes was automatically entered into the regional awards after winning gold in the Visit Devon 2023-24 awards in the glamping category last November. This is Valleyside Escapes’ 9th award since opening over five years ago. The glamping site has three large safari tents overlooking the picturesque Exe Valley. Stunning sunsets provide a perfect spot for couples’ photos and a private stretch of the River Exe where newlyweds often venture for intimate shots. INTIMATE TRESEREN WEDDING VENUE WINS AWARD Cornish wedding venue Treseren has been announced as the national winner in The Wedding Industry Awards 2024, the only Cornish winner in this prestigious event that awards the best wedding industry professionals across the country. This micro wedding venue located in the parish of St Newlyn East was up against some big competition in the Historic Building Wedding Venue category when they became the South-West regional finalists. With eight finalists including former royal residences and vast castles, this is a big achievement for Treseren, who have gone from strength to strength after launching their unique brand of ‘small weddings that are big on style’ in late 2018. Treseren has twice been awarded Gold for Wedding Venue of the Year in the Cornwall Tourism Awards and the South-West Tourism Excellence Awards and has now been recognised on a national level in The Wedding Industry Awards. The awards are voted for by couples that have married at the venue and judged by industry professionals, with the glamorous awards ceremony taking place at the Underglobe on London’s Southbank. Fellow Cornish wedding business Flicksbox were also delighted to be recognised at the event, as finalists in the Photo and Video Entertainment Category. “We are so thankful for this recognition of Treseren and our amazing team, who work so hard to create magical wedding experiences for every one of our couples. We were up against some amazing venues across the whole of the UK and see this as a huge achievement and mark of success for our small business in Cornwall,” says owner Emma Caddis. Treseren is a former Mine Captain’s residence, rich in history and architectural features. The beauty of the house is matched by its private and generous grounds, making it the perfect venue for magical small weddings for up to 22 people. Just a 10-minute drive from some of North Cornwall’s most iconic beaches, Treseren offers an idyllic destination wedding venue with a real sense of occasion. “At Treseren, we have grown to know the secret about small, beautiful weddings – those couples choosing to be selective with their guest list can create a really special and magical experience. We set out to create a relaxed wedding experience where couples could retreat and enjoy a celebration over a few days, encompassing the wedding day,” says Emma. Nestled in the Cornish countryside, Treseren is a beautiful exclusive-use country house wedding venue for small weddings that are big on style. Here, Georgian elegance meets contemporary cool, with Austen-esque proportions and an air of romance. The soaring archways and period features are complemented by a neutral palette, blended with vintage and modern pieces, original Cornish art and natural materials. The decadent Cocktail Bar, Loveday’s, is a glamorous addition to the ground floor spaces, creating a special space for celebration. Wedding parties can enjoy use of the entire house for the duration of their stay. It’s home to sumptuous décor and vintage furniture, from the over-the-top gold leaf ceiling and glass chandelier inside Loveday’s Cocktail Bar, the perfect place to relax and enjoy a celebratory drink. The inspiration for the bar was the glitz and glamour of The Great Gatsby and it was named after Loveday Champion, a resident at Treseren in the 1840’s. The beauty of the house is matched by its private and generous grounds, making it a truly peaceful retreat, with plenty of spaces to relax and play. Located just a 10-minute drive from some of North Cornwall’s most iconic beaches, Treseren is an idyllic destination wedding venue, with wedding parties enjoying exclusive use of the house and gardens. With licensed outdoor ceremony spaces including the canopy of a 200-year-old walnut tree, many couples choose to make the most of the beautiful gardens and say their vows outside. The terraces provide the perfect location for an al fresco drinks reception with croquet on the adjoining lawns. Treseren specialises in small weddings, with a maximum capacity of 22 guests. Ceremonies can take place in the Wedding Room, or outside on either the Walnut Tree Lawn, the Front Lawn or the Covered Terrace. Weddings at Treseren are much more than a one-day affair, with weekend weddings including a three-night stay, so that the happy couple and their closest loved ones can enjoy quality time together celebrating such a special moment in their lives. Guests are greeted with homemade cake and tea, and later in the evening, a locally sourced welcome meal as they are invited to relax and enjoy meaningful interactions, setting the tone for the weekend ahead with a unique blend of five-star service in a home-from-home atmosphere. www.treseren.co.uk VENUES IN NORTH AND WEST CORNWALL Spotlight on... The Greatest Show Emma and Aaron’s special day was inspired by The Greatest Showman movie, decorated with a circus theme Images courtesy of Romance Photography Emma and Aaron Olver married at The Edgemoor Hotel in Devon. 26

Emma and Aaron met in a local pub through a mutual friend. “Aaron was quiet while I was outgoing and making jokes all night,” Emma tells us. “Aaron was too shy to ask me out so he asked his friend to invite me to spend time with them both and eventually plucked up the courage to ask me on a date - the rest is history!” Aaron proposed on Christmas Eve in the couple’s first home. “He had made a puzzle from a picture of both of us and hid a piece inside each of my Christmas presents,” Emma tells us. “When I put it together, it said ‘Will you marry me’ and as I turned around, he was down on one knee in front of all my family which was a wonderful surprise!” SETTING THE SCENE The venue was located on the edge of Haytor and as soon as the couple viewed it, they knew it would be perfect for their circus theme because it was vintage in style. “I purchased a large black frame, some white cards and gold, red and black sparkly cards and started crafting the place names and a table plan!” Emma tells us. “The tables were named after the songs in The Greatest Showman including Rewrite the Stars and Tightrope. Our top table was called The Big Top.” For their centrepieces, Emma purchased large circular plain hat boxes and got her family involved. “We glued gold sparkly crowns and red gift wrapping around the boxes with “Aaron was driven to the venue in a Ford Mustang which is his dream car.” - Emma “We both felt happy, in love, excited...and tired from all the planning! Most of all, we were so grateful to our guests who came along to celebrate with us.” - Emma 27 REAL WEDDINGS

some thick gold rope to make them look like circus drums,” she tells us. “We had our initials, A&E, along with a lion, a top hat and some gold beads draped on top of the hat boxes which looked incredible.” Emma and Aaron’s favours were wedding favour boxes with labels printed with ‘to the circus’ and inside were personalised acrylic puzzle pieces printed with the couple’s initials and wedding date. “We purchased 300 metres of festoon lighting to make the hall look like a big top circus tent and draped fabric swatches in red and white across the curtains to give a circus feel,” Emma says. “We wouldn’t have been able to make it look so amazing if it wasn’t for friends and family helping.” The flower varieties chosen were Emma’s favourites and included red roses, gerberas and white lilies. When it came to their wedding cake, they incorporated their theme. “It featured a unicorn and a sloth because that’s how our loved ones describe us both!” Emma tells us. “We had a delicious afternoon tea followed by a hog roast during the evening.” LOOKING THE PART Emma wore a dress by Ronald Joyce that featured a beautiful long train. “It had a low back with buttons to the floor,” she tells us. I finished my look with a diamanté flower hairpiece teamed with a short veil.” Aaron wore a jacket with tails and carried a cane while the groomsmen wore navy suits with red cravats. “Our bridesmaids looked gorgeous in their red maxi dresses teamed with gold sparkly shoes,” Emma says. TIME TO CELEBRATE “We surprised our guests with circus games including beanbag toss, limbo and a few props,” Emma says. “We hired a bouncy castle which was a hit with everyone and during the evening, we had a DJ. Our first dance was created by Melissa at the Dance Shed and is the best thing we ever did because nobody knew we were doing a special dance and our guests were obsessed with it!” “Jane from Romance Photography was such a great photographer, going above and beyond to ensure we had stunning photos of our special day.” - Emma and Aaron REAL WEDDINGS 29
